I know some of the early code red dvds have frames that are more green lines than actual picture. I think Pets was like that, bloody acre might have been another i dont recall.

Skimming through God’s Bloody Acre and So Sad about Gloria and sorry to disappoint anyone but neither of these have been scrubbed or look waxy to me. So Sad about Gloria looks better than Acre but that’s because it’s a more healthier print. Acre looks very grindhouse with green lines present throughout and colors varying but overall it’s a damn good upgrade over anything else. I’d compare the transfer to Mama’s Dirty Girls from the recent Code Red Triple Bill with Super Van and Piranha Piranha! Audio on both are in sync and sound good!

Is the Freeway sequel good enough for a standalone Blu-ray? I know the original is something of a cult classic but a 1999 sequel, which I didn't even know existed, feels like it'll be too DTV 90's cheesy. I might be inclined to pick up a copy for $12-14 but not at the average $27 DF prices.

Another review from Facebook for God’s Bloody Acre. “Pardon in the rant, but my mind is completely blown. Why in the world would you market the worst transfer on the disc as a main feature? 20 minutes in and the color timing is still atrocious. I have little confidence that DeFalco even knows what color correction means. He might have sold more of these if he would have bragged more about So Sad About Gloria. Whatever source he used, it's in terrible shape. There's vertical anomalies that I've never seen before. With that aside, the audio is a disaster”
Again, not my words, and everyone’s perception of what’s good is slightly different. I respect everyone’s opinions on the subject. Merely offering up people who have indeed seen the discs reaction to it. And Ive just posted the only two that I’ve seen shared. Last edited by dawnofthediscs; 06-20-2018 at 12:41 PM. |

Whomever has posted a review on Facebook bashing God’s Bloody Acre and So Sad about Gloria is clearly lying or is blind. Folks seem to just have a Vendetta against Dark Force for some sad reason. When you’re working with an old personal 35mm print it’s only going to look the best it can and upon my viewing last night of God’s Bloody Acre i can tell you that it looks the best it has ever looked despite the heavy issues with colors varying but what do you expect from an old 35mm print in this type of shape? Gloria looks great and the audio on both of these sound good. You either buy it or you don’t but again this is just my opinion. I quite frankly feel i got my money’s worth with this release.

I haven’t yet bought anything put out by Dark Force or done any business with Dark Force on the Code Red clearing house sales, so I can’t really judge them to be good or bad yet. I stopped trusting word of mouth a long time ago unfortunately. It’ll be my own experiences that judge a label. I’m looking forward to The Backlot Murders (especially at that very friendly price point), Freeway 2 and the Mirror Mirror films.
But having said this, I do agree that people are being unfair. Not everything can get Criterion-esque restorations. Not everyone can spend big money to get access to negatives. Negatives probably aren’t in good shape most of the time with these films. You can only do so much with prints. And you have to hope said prints are in good shape, otherwise it’ll be a situation where you can’t win and can only do the best you can do. As for the price point on the double feature, just look at it as spending $14 a movie. That’s well within many price ranges and is a fair price point for a film. That’s how I always justify double features. I don’t like buying them personally since I prefer they have something that connects them whether it be the director or writer. Sorry but it’s just an OCD thing for me. |

Yes, grain is intact just not heavy. Colors vary from looking OK to being washed out to then instances when it’s full on blue as seen from the clips posted on Dark Force’s Facebook page. |

slasherdisc, do you have any way to share some screen grabs?
DarkForce, have you shared a screener disc or two to the bigger review outlets? I think that might help. I check Mondo Digital every day for a new review (they tend to be overly kind with technical aspects but the reviews are super informative) |

Also if you have old gods bloody acre dvd (which is a hot mess) a comparison of the two in same scene could help. Last edited by Ruined; 06-20-2018 at 06:08 PM. |
