Was thinking DFE had a new shill, then realized it was just a joke. And pretty funny one. For a sec, she had me.

Project: Kill - Seeing Leslie Nielsen play a non-comedic role was enjoyable (it seems all I've seen him do since 1980 were parodies). Overall a pretty good "shot in Manilla" action flick. Wife liked this movie over Cop Killers.

Cop Killers - Pretty wild ride. Notable characters, for me, were the Ice Cream Man and the Hippie (drug/cash go-between) and his 2 girls. Some nudity. Two drug dealers leave a string of dead bodies from US-Mexico border to the hippie's cabin in the desert. Fair amount of tension and suspense.

Quality is pretty decent. Has a grindhouse feel (stray hairs, scratches, pops) -> nothing outrageous to take away from the movie. No waxing or artifacts. Maybe a minor jump or two in both movies. [Was into the movies and not taking notes ]

Not sure if that sells it for you, but I don't regret buying it or watching it.
Thanks I definitely want to check this and Gods Bloody Acte double features out. Kind of annyoning that it will cost 52 to buy those two when 8 dollars more gets me four more double features I don't need. It would be nice if he bundled those two together

If I knew anyone who liked these movies, I would probably be able to "justify to myself" double-dipping [and be set on b-day/x-mas gifts].
For just this reason, picking up the releases as they are released (day-1) bites.

Maybe new-in-wrap could get you more than $2 each at at used movie store? Trade them for some CD's or something?

Isn't that what friends are for? Choose wisely and you'll have one who likes the ones you don't, and you can split the cost. That's why I never pay shipping at VS and always get a good deal on shipping at CR and SA. Combining orders and splitting just makes sense. I do this with a guy in SoCal when I'm not going to be there for three months and he just checks my discs for me. The savings adds up quickly. Dark Force doesn't even charge shipping yet.

I remember when Walt found a box of Joysticks blu-rays about 8 months ago and sold them for MSRP. Walt cares about his customers and it shows in his actions and in his product. He could of scalped his discs on Ebay or charged a higher price, but, he actually wanted people to be able to buy his discs without breaking peoples banks. And although making money is surely his prime directive, he goes about making that money by licensing great films and not scalping old product. I love Walt, be more like Walt.

Bill often found old titles and listed them for 20 or 25 in the cartel store. I don't disagree that Bill doesn't have the warm fuzzies for his label's fans to the extent of some other label owners. However, people online have been very rude and angry and treated him not so wonderfully over the years.

I think, if it were me, I would have a hard time appreciating people who act like they don't appreciate me. I know I posted that I finally left my third career, after people who love me spent a year saying I should spend more time on what I want, and less on trying to help others beat cancer, given the advice I give is readily available now and in no way unique at this point, and others can do the job just as well.

Well, in doing something as simple as working up an eating plan and regimen for supplements to compliment and enhance chemo, recommending people for insulin potentiated therapy, sending them to the IV C clinic, all that stuff they're doing nowadays all over the country and even in Mexico, of course I realized I was doing something any newly trained consultant can now do, but, more than that, I realized it was too hard to deal with the unappreciative element. I found that no matter how hard I tried to be impartial and treat everyone the same, I always ended up caring more and being more helpful to those who were glad for the help. To those who came in and spent time declaring they think all this is bunk and their spouse made them come in, I gave less time and energy. They still did well, they didn't die, but I felt like it was eating me up.

I'm not Bill but, if I were a label owner and instead of giving good natured advice and saying, basically, "good job but here is a place that could use improvement", people were constantly saying I suck and they hate me, I would not have the warm fuzzies for my customers either. Walt is treated a lot better. They're not the same guy, they don't behave the same way or have the same image, but Bill is not the monster people make him out to be and no one deserves the level of endless criticism he faces from people who should be supporting him. That is probably why he gets along with DD from DF. DD has shown an appreciation for Bill, as the humanoid film-database and as a great label-owner of a great label, with a really solid track record for wonderful releases.

Sorry for the wall, to the word haters.

miribeau, you keep repeating this defence of Mr. Olsen, but it just doesn't wash. Saying he acts the way he does because he is tired of people being rude to him is an excuse. I am new to this forum, having only been here for a year or so. Prior to that I was totally unaware of Code Red, and the people (person) behind it. My only exposure to Bill is on this board. His persona here is, at best, illiterate and incomprehensible as he seems incapable of stringing together a sentence. At worst, he could be accused of hate crimes as he threatens people with wishing they were dead. I can only go by what I see here, but he does nothing to make me want to support his business. He just comes across as unpleasant. It's an inexplicable method of doing business to me. If I saw him actually answering people's questions helpfully, then lashing out the odd time because people are rude to him, I'd say you are right about the cause. But he is never polite here on the board.

There is a difference between excuse and explanation. I'll leave it to you to decide how you feel on the topic, as one could fairly see it both ways, when it comes to Bill.

I can't say what he was like when he was young and owned a video store. I can say what the guy who owned my video store was like, when he was young. He acted, pretty much, like Bill, by the end, having been very respectful in his youth. In the beginning of my knowing him, he was happy to have a successful business and, by the end, Blockbuster had driven him out of business and he was ornery and felt like the world was against him. We continued to get along, as he opened a new business with his son, and I noticed that his response to customers had become entirely dependent on how they behaved toward him, with that ability, to be professional no matter what, having disappeared.

In my family, when helping to run a business temporarily, due to the owner's illness, I found myself noticing that some people are just horrible to anyone in Customer Service. They say terrible things and do terrible things. I saw a person yell at an employee because the color of her outfit made her look like some kind of offensive animal, sending the girl crying to the bathroom. I had to make it right, without sacrificing a repeat customer, when what I wanted to do was what Bill does now, tell that person to leave and never come back, because they are not wanted in my business.

Then there's the second issue. Here on this board, some people behave very badly and others egg them on and behave as though that is the kind of attitude that they like to see. Most people don't, but they aren't the ones posting. Bill seems to respond in kind, in that same manner, and I don't think anyone can blame him if he believes that this kind of behaviour is expected by/acceptable to his customer base, in light of how the vocal ones behave.

The reason I started posting on this forum, after years of reading and not posting, was that friends and I discussed what was happening and decided that a rational voice of support was not as common as it should be. People really liking the company seemed to be in the minority here, so, of course, Bill comes here and sees the anger and complaining without seeing what non-posters are saying about his company, specifically that we like it. I think it is possible that Bill has no idea that most of his customers are good people, the kind of people he knew way back when he first opened his video store, who love movies and appreciate the service he provides.

Again, I can't say you are wrong to feel how you feel about his occasional outbursts. Behaving badly on the internet seems to be a way of life for many people, and, for some, it even spills out into their real lives. I can say, I don't think he would behave in the ways you pointed out if he saw a different section of his consumer base in this forum and on his facebook page. But, that is just my opinion based on having known people like him, not based on knowing him.

I do think that DD of DF has great potential to be a positive influence on Bill. It is never too late to find more positive ways to interact with others. Then again, it is also never too late for people like us here, to learn to be more tolerant of the behaviour of others.

Above, you can find an excellent example of the completely normal, acceptable and even encouraged, basic level of general rudeness, that has become commonplace on this board, that Bill frequents. I don't think there is any question as to where he got his definitions for who his clients are or what they are like.

Ron Jeremy was not stunned to see a nice, conservatively-dressed, cross-wearing, decent girl, at a porn show and had no difficulty behaving in an appropriate manner. He was, on the other hand, surprised that the scantily clad porn stars, with whom he had worked and was working at these shows, suddenly started acting as though their bodies were sacred temples. In other words, men notice what's around them, more often than not, and most behave appropriately for what they see.

@miribeau I asked the other day but you may have missed it so I'll repeat it here, please dial back these long-winded posts both here and the CR thread. They're overloading both threads and contain far too much irrelevant areas that stray far beyond the distributor's releases. Thank you.
