If a limited amount pressed and the same amount of units will sell once the run is sold out, you'd make much more profit per unit at $35 than $25. Would be a different story if it was not a limited pressing.

Assuming demand w/ limited run its really just a question of making lower profit per unit over a shorter period of time vs higher profit per unit over longer period of time. Necromancy code red is doing the latter, they may feel there is only a market for 1000 copies for example and want to maximize return for the run.

People complaining about prices going up... it's as if all retailers don't decrease and increase and decrease and increase the price on items all the time. I wonder what that's called, oh yeah, a temporary sale price . Nothing stays low forever and if it does it's typically for a clearance item they are trying to get rid of and will never sell again.

When SOAWN goes up, would have I have bought a couple of those lower priced titles, sure, am I now with the price going up, no, I'll just wait until they have another temporary sale price on those items like I do with literally EVERY retailer.

Exactly. DF item prices have always fluctuated with sales and will continue to in the future. Bottom line if you want something on sale don't procrastinate or you might miss the sale, just like any other sale ever.

When SOAWN goes up wouldn't be surprised if sale prices are shuffled again.

It was never an issue when shipping was "free". Since they'll be switching to a shipping cost, I can understand why some would want to build up a list of titles but the timing of all titles is never going to be perfect for any retailer. Kino frequently have great sales on their own site but they don't always include all their titles, you just need to pick up the ones you want when the price is right and wait on the others.

I think the only retailer that literally keeps prices the same and will continue to lower them until stock is gone is Hamilton Books, they're the exception though and not the rule, the rule is usually the Amazons and Best Buys where fluctuation is the only constant. In that case though, sometimes once HB has sold their stock it's not guaranteed to ever have it back which goes back to the clearance aspect instead of a sale price for consistent in-stock items.

Of course those other retailers let you know it's a sale, and even how long the sale will last. Not make it look like MSRP is_ our price is_, but that doesn't help your argument so definitely leave it out.

If it is, fine, but in this case, Diabolik was asking almost half of what Dark Force wanted for the two titles I picked up. So even your price argument doesn’t hold water.

You pay for the quality and customer service...also supporting small business. Jesse is one of the nicest guys and always makes sure to ship MINT products in protective packaging. I buy Arrow collectors editions only from them because I know it will arrive mint unlike Amazon.

You used Diabolik as an example of a place with good pricing, I found it a strange example to use because in most cases Diabolik is significantly more expensive than other retailers. Maybe in these two cases their price was better but vast majority of time they are more expensive than others.

I buy.a LOT of movies and Diabolik seems often 20-30% more expensive compared to other retailers on most releases. Sometimes I might pay that premium such as for an import in a fragile box, but for general purpose releases no I won't pay the extra money. If it was only a little more expensive (~5%) I would, but the price difference is often much larger - plus can't cancel order, have to wait for order to be complete in stock before anything shipped, etc. It's simply too much extra to spend for the quantity of releases I buy.

Also if Amazon sends me something damaged I return it and they resend it, even multiple times if needed.

It's amazing how this disinterested (totally-not-a-shill!) party has such in depth knowledge of Dark Force operations!

This. I've ordered from Diabolik numerous times, even knowing that I'll likely pay more, just because I know it won't be a headache. All I have to do is think of how I got the Studio Canal 4K disc of Escape From New York with no issues, while the 4K releases for The Fog and They Live (which I had ordered through Amazon UK) were never even put in the box Amazon shipped to me.

There's this new technology called FACEBOOK where all of this "secret" info is publicly posted, you should check it out to gain some in depth knowledge of your own

But, to be clear, no on what you said. DD doesn't have access to the bulk of Bill's inventory, in Washington, because, he too is in Los Angeles.

...And there are several more like that. $5 shipping would suck, were it not for the lowering of prices (although not all prices, but I saw several drop last week, with the new shipping cost going in, before the store went down again) and were it not for the free shipping once you hit $40. Also, side note, many of the prices people have said went up, with the new shipping charge, were on sale at the lower price and have returned to the exact price or just under the price they were before the sale. Spontaneous Combustion and Mutant were both in that category.

This is the one thing I really want to see DF fix on the site. No "New Products" category. Just a Blu-ray section and a DVD section and the Merchandise section, all with the option to filter A-Z, Low-High or Release Date. That would make it easier to shop.

David is who he is and his personality is wonderfully unique, like Bill's. You might find, at some point in your life, that the endless numbers of people who seem to go out of their way to develop and emulate the exact same personality and ideas as everyone else, in their sphere, begin to annoy you.

That was my primary reason for deciding I hated Southern California. Give me someone different, annoying or not, curmudgeonly or not, using words I don't approve of, expressing ideas with which I do not agree.... Almost anything is better than another virtue-signaling, twenty-something Cylon.

I have no right to say it and you don't have to listen, but, I suggest you give DD some time to grow on you. His live feeds contain a lot of new information and he often conducts interviews in them, which are worth watching, if you are a fan of the interviewee. Maybe watch one of his live feeds right after having dinner in a restaurant where all the tables around you are filled with teens and twenties talking about how much they hate white men and which of the people they know might be "questioning", for a freaking hour.

As my best gay friend says, "Nothing is worse than the Cylons in the Denny's at midnight." At least DD has had an interesting life, multiple careers, and doesn't sound just like every other person you hear, everywhere you go.

Or he needs time to keep up with the shipping, so he doesn't fall behind. The order numbers are sequential, starting from one, and each time I've ordered from him my number has been hundreds over the last order number. That is quite a lot of packing and mailing. I would change the sign from stating that the site is down for maintenance to something like, "We'll return, when our last batch of orders has shipped."
