From Dark Forces Facebook. These guys keep getting sadder and sadder.

DARK FORCE makes THE HOUSE THAT VANISHED relevant again!
STATEMENT: Hopefully this will be the last word on THE HOUSE THAT VANISHED (although we doubt it)
1. Nobody was interested in THE HOUSE THAT VANISHED until we released it as one of the features in our 70's Retro Drive-In Series which was created to be a tribute to the drive-in era not to the individual movies themselves.
2. We made a deal to release both HOUSE THAT VANISHED and EERIE MIDNIGHT HORROR through Code Red and were told they were both the R-Rated US versions that played the drive-ins.
3. We announced from the start that this was a LIMITED 1000 EDITION and was not going through KINO. Dark Force wanted to see how the sales would be when we sold direct.
4. It has been the top seller and fasting selling title at the Dark Force online store HOWEVER the online store has only been open less than 3 months. The number of units sold are NOWHERE near the number of units sold by KINO to the major stores on the previous 3 Dark Force releases.
5. We plan to pull the title early due to all the people complaining that it is not the British uncut version which fortunately has been the vast minority of the people. It just seems like millions because they can't stop talking about it even though we never advertised and uncut european version.
6. What made this title big is all the buzz we generated not the actual number of units sold although we still feel it will become a collector's item once it is gone as a result of its new found notoriety. HOUSE THAT VANISHED takes a page from the CHAOS controversy and finally gets the spotlight! Hopefully Jose Larraz is seeing all this and smiling because he was certainly unappreciated when he was alive.

I received my copy of THTV in the mail today. I'm eager to check it out, despite the very disappointing cuts. I am grateful they threw in the Packard magnet anyhow, as I find that rather amusing.

Usually, I do not like to publically criticize other labels, but this debacle was just too much for me to take anymore, and this comment was the last straw.
Man, f*** Dark Force - done with them! Unfollowing them on FB and will never buy any of their discs again.

Have sales been lean or not? Never mind the "vast minority". It all seems quite oxymoronic to me. The confusion continues.

Wow. I want to give these folks the benefit of the doubt (the more niche labels, the better), but they don't exactly project professionalism, goodwill, or maturity in their posts as I read them.

I really don't care what any of you think of me I will just say that's bull crap there's been a lot of interest in this film for a long long time if there was no interest they wouldn't be all these other cult labels trying to license from a very difficult licensor and this guy comes out of nowhere and claims he made it relevant again I don't care what that label thinks of me but that is a lie

Lest we forget the times this guy put "very rare and oop" DVDs for sale for upwards of $50 when a (then unannounced) Blu-ray release of said film was right around the corner. Well congrats Bill, you found someone who comes off as more skeezy than you are.

It's been a little while since I took Econ 101, though I've been in the business world for a few decades and maybe what they teach in schools has changed. But since when do businesses cater to the minority of their customers, no matter how "vast" they may be? Is that what they're teaching our youth? This is hot ice and cold fire to be sure.

Frankly this strategy appeared to work for Necromancy in terms of increasing perceived value.

Anyway it looks like screen archives got 50 in stock when DF stops selling it on 3/24.

I agree. You certainly don't get entered into Cannes by being a hack director. Vampyres is one of my favorite horror films.

I think all this drama has been created by DF to distract from just how bad Chaos actually is

I was giving Dark Force the benefit of the doubt up until now, but there is just no way I can support the label with the way they are acting. In my eyes, they are a total joke and I would just feel foolish sending them money at this point. Offerings is available elsewhere so that's an easy one... as for THTV, I'm in no rush to see it and will wait until a legit label releases it.

I've never seen The House That Vanished, is there a quick rundown on the differences between the uncut version and the version on this release?
