You should “GAF” when they are jacking up the price of the blus because of the “Rolex” style slips. Especially when the blu inside is an upscale.

I hadn't noticed the embossing ended halfway down, as it wasn't a release I could afford to purchase, but that does look weird. David definitely needs to have a little talk with his artistic director, whoever that is, over at the slip-production place, about what looks good and what doesn't and about the importance of not confusing the two. He kind of got screwed on Breeders by whoever told him it was a good idea to stop the embossing, on top of ending the glowy-layer, at the navel.
Cougar Town was better. |

David's already said he has an artwork guy so it wasn't his idea to do it that way. He approved it, but didn't think of it. Also, the man lives in an all white and glass condo with a curio cabinet that has nothing in it. Although he's a filmmaker and a storyteller, he's not the overtly artistic type. He's a minimalist. Designing slipcovers wouldn't be his thing.

Stop pretending you know what he's thinking. If the last part is true he ahould listen to feedback, not call it trolling.

As to calling it trolling, he appears to like doing that. I don't know why, but if it bothers you, why not just tell him that it's annoying, like this.... David.... Saying "trolling" all the time negates all meaning in the term and renders it more annoying than useful. Sometimes, constructive criticism is meant to help. Furthermore, you can make "trolling" mean something again if you attempt to acknowledge that difference. Also, please tell your art guy to never do what he did on Breeders ever again, because he really screwed up. Thank you. Kraven, if you do it like that, he'll listen. As stated on many occasions, David is a quick learner and makes changes all the time, in an effort to better his business, and he tells us about those changes regularly, along with the reasons he's making them. Again, no mind-reading involved, just listening. Just tell him politely if something doesn't work. There's no need to be angry or mean.... Actually, that goes for both of you. |

To David: Hey. I just got around to the live feed from last night and I am, again, a little confused about some things you guys discussed. I'm just going to lay this out quickly, so I don't get in trouble with Titan, and then ask a couple of questions because some of this was glossed over and spun around and reversed and then restated. You'll see what I mean. 1) Bill said he is the worldwide rights owner of BBNM. (Live Feed) 2) Bill said he had sold 2,500 copies of BBNM. (Live Feed) 3) Previously he had said he took years to get through selling out the 1,000 first pressing, which was why he decided to never repress it. (Most recently referenced in the live feed from the night before, although he may not have mentioned the "1,000" he has noted before.) (Live Feeds and here) 4) Bill said the re-sale value on his disc is very high. (I looked and he is correct. Amazon has one for $150 right now, which is bonkers.) (Live Feed, Amazon, Ebay) 5) Bill said a German company believes there is enough demand to do a pressing of BBNM and sell it around the world, a cheap rip of his film. I did the research and it is up for sale and orders are being processed by specific vendors, while others have it listed as coming soon. (The company pages and storefronts associated with and named as associates of the company you named in the Live Feed) 6) Bill reiterated there is no demand for this film, that has a new release of 500 coming out in Germany, while it is simultaneously selling for very high prices on ebay and Amazon. (Live Feed, Facebook, Various Stores, Ebay, Amazon) 7) Bill has a huge digital catalogue, truly a wonderful collection that not enough people buy from, because industry standard is 6.99 and he charges 9.99, but, still, people like me who love his company do buy those copies, and BBNM is NOT included in those digital titles, nor has it been. (Amazon) 8) Bill is willing to spend a great deal of money on attorneys, and rightfully so, to defend his ownership of this title. (Live Feed) 9) Bill is unwilling to spend any money to re-press his legitimate, region free blu to cut off sales of this competing bootleg or recoup losses. (Live Feed) 10) Bill is unwilling to spend no money at all to sell a digital HD version for digital distribution, to cut off sales of this competing bootleg or recoup losses. (Live Feed and fact that Bill didn't add BBNM to his collection even when prompted, hence my previous belief he was not WW rights owner) Could you please read through that list a couple of times, swirl it around, get it all straight in your mind and then talk to him about this issue? I know some people here pick at you but I've said before you are smart and a quick learner and, here, you will get a chance to prove it to the trolls.... What the heck does all of the above mean, out here, in the real world? Which parts of the story are true? Does he own the rights? Why isn't he making money off those rights while ebay sellers and bootleggers are making money off those rights? What the heck is going on? Bill knows I think he's wonderful, as do many people who come here, but none of what he said tonight makes a lick of sense. (As to the digital issue, Walt was unable to honour the legacy of Bill Paxton by selling a digital HD copy, or even SD, of his beautiful restoration of Mortuary, tragically, because he doesn't own streaming rights, which is what I thought had happened to Bill with BBNM, but he said in that last feed that he's the worldwide rights owner. What the heck?) Please David, please just figure this out and explain it. Right now, it looks like you guys are really angry that someone is prepping a release that won't sell eight copies, of a title Bill both owns and doesn't own. ????? |

So, you thought Point Doom was bad... wait until you watch Breeders. I have to admit, I found them entertainingly bad. But neither is, in my opinion, worth the price DF has them at, nor essential viewing in any capacity. They're late-night-cable type bad-good.....

Refresh my memory...Breeders is the one with Samantha Womack (Janus), set in Boston but filmed entirely on the Isle of Man, right?

"Most people" who want to own a copy of BBNM on DVD or Blu-ray already have one. I was one of those "people" who upgraded to the Blu after it was said that a Blu was not forthcoming. The BBNM DVD looked good and I was mostly happy with it, so part of the reason why I upgraded was out of a morbid sense of loyalty and I wanted to support the label. Since you're not interested in repressing it, there's going to be a foreign edition available for those who missed out on your release but a lot of US people aren't really into importing so I think you're safe. Those who missed out will just continue to nag you for a repress. Pressing plants require a minimum of 1,000 units, correct? How about partnering with Vinegar Syndrome? Their have their own equipment and perhaps don't have a minimum requirement. I think a VS edition of the film with a splitcover will sell loads of copies. Hell, I may even triple dip!
