I watched Dead Pit for the first time a few months back, had never seen it before. Owned the 2 disc Best buy DVD exclusive purchased from the cartel a few years back, Everytime I would pick it up to watch, I would pass and pick something else.

With all the hullabaloo with the glow in the dark slip, store opening and closing, impossible to get, scalped on eBay for 80 bucks each, demon threatening people, I had to check it out.

Recognized the location but thought, nah, can't be, they never film anything up here only in Los Angeles, must be something that looks like it.

Checked it out and yes it was filmed on location at Agnews, former hospital of psychiatry. There are a lot of local urban legends surrounding the place, I didn't know but Wikipedia has informed me that One flew over the cuckoo's nest was based on this asylum, one of the first or maybe the first to use electric shock therapy.

It was built with garish , incredible looking architecture in the 1880s, was destroyed in the 1906 quake, then reopened with this clock tower in 1908, once again the property was ravaged by the 1989 quake, after the Dead Pit was filmed there, and fell into ruin and disrepair.

Oracle owns the property now and restored the clock tower and some of the salvageable buildings while most of the property was demolished unfortunately.

It was so cool there I went back in the morning and got some more shots.

Dreadful movie but cool location.

Sometimes the store site will have some minor technical issues that are usually resolved quickly although we have not received any other reports from anyone having trouble ordering. Try it again, it should go through.
