Not having complete subtitles is something that wouldn’t bother me, but I completely understand folks frustration - it’s not a cheap disc.

Put up a small clip of the damaged elements you’re working with, a small blurb about the challenges involved in the restoration and you will still, absolutely sell out the disc. You’ve gave and levelled the consumers expectations.

I am watching DEATH RAGE. the release looks fine to me. Yul was king of Cool and too bad cancer got him.

Small American companies who released Japanese animation were able to fully subtitle movies into English in the early 90s. The physical media market for that was smaller back then but they made it work.

Fully translated subtitles on foreign movies when the original language track is available is the minimum standard that should exist for releasing movies like that. Using the dub script is also not acceptable.

You're a great asset to these boards Shark, but having just watched the Dorado Eurocrime set two days ago, I have to disagree completely. That one had both audio tracks available and even had subtitles in three languages. There was about 2-3 minutes where the dub was off in Special Cop in Action, but overall it was a much better package.

I don't think people are expecting Criterion levels of work, but are expecting some competency. Not having subtitles for some of the Italian scenes because they believe it's not important is no excuse. I can deal with the picture quality not being great, but make sure to not hail this release as the best looking thing ever.

They should have had the Italian audio of the film. Hell, the film is up on youtube with the entire Italian audio. There should have been two audio choices and complete subtitles.

Yul was great in The Ultimate Warrior too. I was surprised to read he didn't die until 1985 and stopped acting in movies the last 9 years of his life.

I think he's referring to the PQ as the Dorado's are green, non color corrected , raw scans.

Yeah, in the way of picture, overall Death Rage is better than those. Special Cop in Action needed a lot of work, but Weapons of Death wasn't too bad actually.

Weapons of Death was such an awesome movie I didn't care too much about it being far from a good quality release.

YETI is currently in replication and there are a few changes with the production. This title will not have the 3D emboss slipcover that glows in the dark but it will feature a heavy card stock matte finish slipcover on the entire run. The new high def release of YETI from the original 35mm camera negative will be available for sale at the Dark Force Store later this month.

I guess, My standards are lower than some people. I thought the Dorado set looked washed out, but I’m happy to have it. The subtitle thing is a deal breaker for some, but not for me. I’m happy just have a decent looking release, I watched a Japanese release of Highway Racer in Italian with no English subs, because I love this genre so much. For me just having a decent transfer brings me enough joy. But everyone is entitled to their opinion. For me this leaps and bounds better than the old dollar store bootleg of this movie I had previously. It just sucks that if they get a lot flack justified or not they’re gonna stop putting this stuff out, and maybe Redneck and other titles don’t happen.

Let someone else who actually cares about the movies and does not insult the people who buy his product maybe?

Flack has been 100% justified, every time.
Label insults buyers, disrespects films,
makes no effort to avoid repeat performances going forward.

I just wish they would learn some customer service skills. Redneck shouldn't be as much of an issues as the dub is pretty good. Would be great if it has the Italian audio, but I'm not hold my breath.

EDIT: Actually, Redneck has some Italian lines, but it's part of the English dub. There is also a German family that speaks German in the film, so I wonder if that will be subtitled or not.

DARK FORCE STATEMENT ON DEATH RAGE SUB-TITLE CONTROVERSY: An issue has been raised by certain vocal individuals regarding the subtitling on the new Dark Force release of DEATH RAGE which has never looked so good on high def. Apparently the complaints surround a few very minor missed scenes in the movie with Italian dialogue subtitled in english. Although we have confirmed the scenes were indeed overlooked, we do feel they were not pertinent to the story and very self explanatory. However the vocal minority did get the attention of our distribution partner MVD who suggested that we do a replacement disc program on this release. Meanwhile it is worthwhile to mention that we have received many compliments regarding the new transfer which was from a 35mm Italian print. Most are very satisfied that the image on the new Dark Force blu-ray stating it is far superior to anything else previous on the market. There is a very small amount of print wear mostly evident in the first few minutes of the opening credits and then the rest is quite nice. We have decided to look into a replacement program on this release for everyone that has purchased it up until now. In the meantime, it has been pulled from the Dark Force Superstore until further notice. We want to thank all of our loyal fans for their support and understanding.
