They had too otherwise all of that extra text wouldn't have fit.

Maybe the Maria stuff was planned but had to be scrapped due to royalties or something, would explain the delay

Correct. Here's a picture David DeFalco posted on Instagram a while ago of an early test disc that shows you the only 2 menu options.

This is a great release for Scream. An eye roller of a cover art is all. Most people buying this should already own the standard blu ray to make it make sense. It should have already come included. This film, Night of the Living Dead and Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things are my first 3 non-hdr 4k's. They're satisfying for me. I would eagerly replace all of my standard blu rays with them. But I like it better when I can actually get rid of the old disc!

I like Maria Kanellis
I'll still pick it up but hate the false advertising.

Did they do any color correction, repair any damage, address the brutal wobble, instability, etc?

I don't have a feel for the old 1080p transfer like I do some others. I did watch the movie entirely back then, 2013? on code red blu ray and didn't notice any huge stability, damage or color issues or enough to crave a remaster. It surely didn't wobble like boggy creek. I did note that it was a huge improvement over the shriek show dvd, which blew away the vhs. The 4k brings a much more realistic experience than the code red blu ray. And more visible grain along with it. There is a roughness and unstableness about the experience. And fuzzy shots. But obviously on the hands-on film element side of things. And being all nighttime...the blacks aren't inky like a perfect dolby vision disc would have. But it's Scream 1981. Better than ever.

Maria's B-Movie Mayhem in 4k... probably the only reason I'd buy the Scream 4k disc.
No Maria, no sale.

But why in hell did they keep the blu ray back cover art template exact, with Maria's image and stating it is available on the disc? That was weird. Will be buying an empty 2-disc 4k case to include the code red blu ray in the same case. Then the case info will be accurate. I'll totally buy all of these non-hdr 4k upgrades from darkforce on titles I want. Dead Pit isn't one of them. But Final Exam is! I just hope in the future they make the case art reflect what is actually on the disc.
Wait, Dark Force isn't using HDR for their 4K titles? I was looking forward to Final Exam but a SDR disc would be a huge disappointment.

Scream is the only one without HDR.

Wish I could add the 80's Slasher Bundle to my Black Friday order that still has to be shipped because of Dead Pit. Seems dumb to pay $15 shipping to Canada when I already have an order that has not been shipped yet.

Was it actually advertised in any of the store listings? Can't really claim false advertising of the back cover when you don't see the back cover until after you buy it

That is still false advertising. Listing a feature and having a picture of the host of said feature displayed on the back cover is false advertising.

They should add in the store listing that, that feature is no longer included.

More respectful to the customer would have been changing the back cover.

Feel bad for people that already unloaded their Bru-lay copies. At least it keeps the most important extra.

I already received a nice new Viva elite 2-disc case. It feels heavier/more substantial with 2 discs. All features printed on back cover are now accounted for inside. Oddly, a similar result, but different situation hit me with Scream 1996 4k. It didn't include a standard blu ray as I had expected, but still arrived in a 2-disc case w/ empty hub. So I bought the standard blu ray of the new 4k transfer to add to it. Now they both live in my collection with an uncredited disc 2. I'm ok with that!

I still can't wrap my head around a UHD of Scream. I'm one of the two people who appreciate the bump up, though. I just wish I'd get a shipping notification already.

Scream is one of the absolute worst shot on film slashers, and releasing it on 4K is, honestly, baffling.

Just think about how many decent slashers could have gotten the UHD treatment instead of this piece of shit.

Just watched it for the first time, and, uh, yeah. But the "Beat the Geeks" guy liked it.

I always just assumed it was something they owned outright, or could get access easily, so it was a no-brainer for them to release it. Didn't really matter that no one was asking for it.
