Dave should use the new "no blood" outline, but make the outline and knife glow in the dark. That would be perfect and also fit the Dark Force brand. I bet would look really cool lit up

Considering that DF is going to charge a premium for the release with slip, yes. If a reduced price non slip version were available I'd pick that up.

BTW usually reason OG art isn't used is because the OG artist/licensor would charge some additional fee. Could be stipulations in license like maybe DF/CR is allowed to use the OG art 1 time on the cover, but if they use it a 2nd time on the slip it's more money, etc.

Even THAT was better than this 4K slipcover. Good lord. LOL

I kind of like that. Feels a little more real to me in terms of the fear inducing part. That was the artwork I saw when I first heard about the movie.

Man, the DVD years were wild when a Special Edition would be 10,000+ copies. The development of cover art like that feels more time consuming and planning than hiring an artist (I know the amount of work that can be done on newly commissioned art can be time and labor intensive when it's more than the floating heads and the effort is there).

I've known plenty of people that buy a movie because of the slipcover but not the opposite.

This new one is awful. It looks like a lazy design thrown together in 15 minutes. Removing the poster art background from the silhouette makes it bland. It's one of the most unremarkable slips I've ever seen.

The first design was ugly. No argument there. But it was distinct and the ugliness gave it a charm. It was the kind of slipcover you pull out and show others like "look at this thing."

I think all that was achieved was making an ugly slip into a lazy, forgettable one. I'd rather he knock $3 off the price and give us no slip if this is the final design. Or at least sell a non-slip version too.

Check their fb they just announced the final one and it rocks

I get where you're coming from, but on social media it was a bloodbath. Other than you I think I saw one additional person that liked it to like 20 that hated it, assuming that person wasn't you. On the other hand, everyone seems to like this new slipcover, again other than you heh.

It's just a generic looking silhouette.

If DF couldn't use the original artwork on the slip (which it looks like he is using the art from the original, so I don't think that's true), then he should not have used the silhouette at all because it's generic looking. It's as boring as a slipcover can get IMO.

I'll be happy to answer your questions. First and foremost the original artwork is on the wrap so why would you want it on the slipcover as well? Second we tried something different with the illustrated art and normally there will always be a few that won't like anything so that would not suade us but we literally got lambasted on Facebook. It was overwhelmingly reviled so we had no choice but to discard it. Finally the final slip is going to look awesome. It will look amazing with the special extra high gloss we are planning for it and when you see the rest of it most people should be quite satisfied with it. It's going to look amazing in person. Trust the dark forces on this one.

Couldn't agree more with this statement. That's one thing i can't stand with some of Shout Factory 4K's, original art on both the slip and wrap.
