In absolute awe of the dark force shipping speed. First half of my order made on Thursday arrived on the doormat today in the UK (after 2 non-working days for the post office too), pretty unbelievable.

Guys, the Dark Forces thread is hardly the place for insults and theatrics.

I love that they're releasing Back lot murders, though the German Blu-ray was pretty decent. I hope this means they'll release more Scream-wave slashers like Lovers Lane, Shredder, The Pool, Flashback, Somebody Help Me, Granny, Ripper: Letters from Hell, Tuno Negro, Wishcraft... the list goes on and on.

Definitely would be in for Shredder, The Pool, and The Granny. Any Shannon Whirry on Blu-ray is always welcome.

So, then he's a 1st class citizen in your eyes, just because you say so? Sorry, but you can't pick & choose your type of filthy just because you think they make good movies.

Isn't there a DVD to satisfy your needs?

There is not a single other film I can think of where a director puts his sickness on screen in such a way.
He is still at it apparently, his most recent film had to be edited.

Weinstein is an ******* and deserves to go to jail.
Polsanski made 1 big mistake 40 years ago.
He is also an amazing director, and none of his films reflect on that, or glorify the victimization of innocents.

You and worship may want this movie on Blu...
you are most definitely in a small minority.

First of all, the DVD is OOP and goes for over $100. But if that’s no big deal to you, then you can always gift one to me

Second, that last statement by you just proves that you have no idea what you’re talking about.

Do you guys actually want Clownhouse because you've seen and enjoyed it? Or do you just want it because it's rare and controversial?

We all know opinions are like *******s, but I think Silva may be one of the worst filmmakers that ever lived. I'm always like "WTF?!?" when someone says they like Jeepers Creepers.

Ooooooo nice one, glad you looked in my collection to see if any pedophiles were there. Apples and oranges there bro. Last I checked the production of Rosemary’s Baby wasn’t used as a front to rape a little boy in production on set . Please watch Clownhouse and enjoy it knowing the star was raped by the director if that’s your thing

I find enthusiasm to see this garbage released troubling at best

Jeepers Creepers is awesome & 2 was pretty good as well. As for Clownhouse I've seen it & the reason I don't want to own it has nothing to do with Salva but because I found it a bit too slow. However I recognize like any film it deserves a release & support it getting one so that those who do like it & want to own it can do so.

I can see both sides of the argument.

In reality, there are a lot of horrible people in Hollywood. Well, in general, but politics and Hollywood seem to draw a higher percentage of horrible people than average it seems.

As Blu Titan said, its challenging to take a moral superiority high ground because of all the bad eggs out there. Are you going to get rid of your Kevin Spacey movies? Spacey semi-admitted that he sexually assaulted a 14-year old with excuse because he was drunk. He was never convicted because the victim didn't come out timely, but since he essentially nearly admitted wrongdoing due to alcohol with a statement I'm sure a lawyer carefully crafted its hard to argue that case. And that's a lot of high profile movies:
https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000228/?ref_=fn_al_nm_2
American Beauty takes on a curious light now...

And yeah there is Polanksi, everything Weinstein produced/financed, amongst I'm sure heaps of others.

I wasn't aware of the Clownhouse ordeal, but yes it seems especially dirty, and it is tough to stomach the "director" profitting even a cent off the ordeal he definitely did not serve enough jailtime for committing.

In the end though, not much else to do but have the marketplace sort it out. If a company puts the movie out, they risk people not buying it because of the crime attached, and some may take a negative view of the company releasing it; but, on the other hand, some people may not care about the crime and buy it anyway for collecting purposes. So assuming its able to be licensed - maybe the company wants to take a financial and reputation risk and put it out, or maybe they don't? These factors that will then be weighed by the company and they will decide whether to license and release or not. Expecting anything else would be censorship as there is nothing illegal involved in selling the film.

Unless you choose to avoid all movies involving morally bankrupt Hollywood stars (and there are a lot of them), its a tough position to dictate to others what level of moral decay is "okay" and "not okay" when considering to buy a DVD - both the personalities involved in making the movie and the content contained within the movie itself. Of course, not buying the movie yourself and strongly expressing why you believe it should not even be released is fine, too.

MGM had to pull the DVD of Clownhouse due to the uproar; seems like a risky venture for a brand new, boutique label to undertake in today's ultra-sensitive climate.

True, but it only matters if you let the ultra-sensitive affect the decisions you make.

Yeah, but who outside of this forum and other dvd forums would even know about the release? I see people requesting titles all the time that Code Red, Severin...etc have released. Most people wouldn’t even notice it tbh.
Just look at what Severin is doing selling off one their new titles with a slipcover that’s titled “Terminator 2”. You want to know why they haven’t been ceased a decisted yet? Because no one outside of forums like these are even aware of the release.

Especially if it’s a very limited to 1,000 release, I see little to no problems with a Clownhouse release.

The DVD was pulled because the actor who was raped on set as a little boy raised a huge stink in the media. If someone somehow managed to license the blu-ray, I would be willing to bet he would find out about it - especially since he is raising funds to make a film about his experience:

Saw Clownhouse back when it first came out when I was a teenager. I couldn't give a sh!t less about rarity or controversy. His movie "Powder" is also a underrated gem. I can separate movies from the personnel & background stories. I always loved Rose McGowan going after Harvey Weinestein with claws ready, but was the star in the Victor Salva movie "Rosewood Lane" (which I also like). Lots of hypocrites. Then those same hypocrites think someone like me enjoys a child molester because I enjoy the movies made involving him. That's pathetic & sick to think that way. Does my money go to him? I don't know. And all of you who are "above such things" have no idea where your money goes either. Maybe to fund the child slave labor if you buy clothes at J.C. Penney. To scummy producers who get their jollies off watching people squirm on the casting couch. You don't know. No one does. I enjoy the movies I watch because they entertain me. No more, no less.
