Thumbs up Aspects of Filming

I like that fact that J.J. Abrams is keep the film, or at least some aspects of it, 'grounded,' from the looks of this new teaser trailer. Filming in parts of the country and/or world to capture curtain aspects of the film is always a plus for any film IMHO. In order to show more depth as well as consistency from Episodes 4, 5, and 6 will work wonders for Episodes 7, 8 and 9 Less "Green Screen," and more "On Location" works for me. I think that's one aspect of filming that George Lucas drifted away from in the PT and in some ways, missed the mark on his attempts to create a "real" world of beauty, before the destructive creation, we all came to know, as the "Empire."

The shot with the Falcon flipping up in the sky is just an excuse to have lens flare.
[Show spoiler]Just kidding, we've seen the Falcon with lens flare before.

Might've been covered but I'm ass backwardly upset that "Episode VII" has been dropped from the title. Probably to ease the audience into the 50 films that'll be churned out in the future.

It'll be in the opening crawl.

Oh, I get it. All those troopers never did find the droids they were looking for.

Yep, it's still Episode VII, they're just not calling it Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens in the trailers and posters, much like they didn't call The Empire Strikes Back or Return of the Jedi Episode V and VI when they re-released them as special editions, or even their original releases. it's just another small callback to going back to the original trilogy days. Nothing to get worked up over.

It's just sad that people like myself have waited for this for months now and can't enjoy its glory together. Every forum I have been on today has been fighting over this. Yoda would be sad...

It's still Episode VII.

Only the prequel trilogy added Episode I, II, III into the actual title. Hell, on the posters and home movie covers the Episode part was the largest wording of the title.

So this leaked Stormtrooper pic was leaked a few months ago:

Turned out to be real. I wonder if this one must be real, too:

Back then, it was probably important to pound it into people that they were prequels, not sequels, to avoid confusion. It's not necessary anymore.

I personally love how the secondary title squeezes in between the Star and Wars.

There was also this story from Badass Digest in July, that talked about Boyega's role:

Quote:
[Show spoiler]
This morning I shared some vague, broad stroke aspects of the set-up (ie, first 20 minutes or so) of Star Wars Episode VII, stuff that was confirmed to me by multiple sources. It's been fascinating watching the internet take this info and kind of do its own thing and also watching people get all hard scifi on Star Wars. While looking at reactions I've seen that one piece of info that I held back has already been rumored, so I figured it's safe to tell you the most basic nature of John Boyega's character in Episode VII.

Potential spoilers for the truly, truly spoiler sensitive.

As others have said, Boyega plays a storm trooper. A storm trooper who basically deserts and teams up with Daisy Ridley's character.

Before you ask: no, I don't know what this means for the state of the galaxy at the beginning of Episode VII. There are more details I've been told that actually make the state of the galaxy even more confusing to me; I'm hoping to hunt down more specifics in the weeks to come. But in case you're unsure about the information I've been sharing, know this: Boyega as storm trooper is the single most confirmed piece of news I've ever written about in terms of sheer volume of independent sources who agree. All aspects of this Star Wars information has been vetted by multiple people, but the Boyega stuff has been repeated and confirmed to me by so many people now that it's almost comical.

One last thing: a lot of people have found my initial report hard to believe. Me too! That's why I got multiple sources to confirm it before I ran anything. Could they be wrong/spreading disinformation? Anything's possible, but both of these sources have proven to be absolutely impeccable in the past.

One last, last thing: one of my sources tells me that the desert planet in Episode VII is not Tatooine. I guess that in my attempt to be vague in the initial report I didn't make that clear enough. I only have that from one source, though.

With several films not set for release for over a year including Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, I hope the studios...

But I think the episode numbering is still necessary to separate the main saga from the standalone spin-offs coming every other year.

Hmmm. Sounds like Star Wars just isn't for you.

If you didn't really like any of the six previous films (not even New Hope or Empire?), I'd be highly surprised if you somehow became a fan of this latest entry.

Full marks for optimism though.

The numbering will exist within the films, but I don't really think it needs to be done in the advertising. I like the idea that we just sell the movies as part of the overall Star Wars universe, furthering the adventures across the galaxy, not just with Episode numbers. That might actually be worse because then anything that didn't have an episode number in advertising might make people think it's unimportant and ignore it. This is better.

Checking out the internet in the last few hours, regarding the trailer, just reinforces the impression that so many fans just live to complain (seems the most popular things in this regard are the lightsaber and the droid - though I've also heard quite a few complaints about there behind a helmetless Stormtrooper, of all things ).

It was nice that there was about an hour this morning, after the trailer premiered, that seemed like just general excitement and enthusiasm. Reminded me of before the days of the internet, when I would have fun talking about Star Wars with my friends - devoid of cynicism.

It's already happening. I posted the trailer on my Facebook page, the thumbnail shows the title card, but everyone ignores it except for one like from a friend that's a dedicated Star Wars fan like me. The general public seems to have no idea what it is, especially with the many cartoon and games everywhere.

Just watched the teaser for the first time. Liked this is the first time I've gotten interested in this other than hearing about the cast.
