Luke Skywalker is one nice, understanding dude. After rewatching ROTJ last night, Kenobi's rationale for lying ("truths can be different depending on who they come from") is the douchiest excuse out of all the Star Wars movies. When I heard Kenobi's rationale for lying to Luke, all I can think of is "what an a-hole!"

I have that one too. And you know what? I don't see the video problems with Phantom Menace that people talk about either. It looks fine to me.

Yeah, he had a scheduling conflict. He has not problem coming back though, clearly, because he has done a handful of episodes of The Clone Wars as Qui-Gon, and has even expressed interest in possibly coming back if an offer was extended to him. Never say never.

Really? The excessive dnr is incredibly easy to spot.

Physical only for me. No time at all for any other format.

Sounds like a bad case of cutting off the nose just to spite your own face.

I only notice it on Qui-Gon's face during one of the Jedi Council scenes, that was bad. Everywhere else the DNR was delicately applied, similar to what they've done to Aliens. It looks beautiful to me.

The Phantom Menace blu-ray does not look similar to the Aliens blu-ray. And TPM's dnr is not delicately applied.

Of course it doesn't look similar, I mean the method they used.

Trailer Report: 'Star Wars' Teaser Beats 'Age of Ultron' In Debut

The Force is strong in this one.

The teaser trailer for Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens had the best first week of any trailer on YouTube in 2014, according to technology firm Zefr, which tracks the numbers.

The 88-second trailer racked up 58.2 million YouTube views since being released on Nov. 28, the day after Thanksgiving.

A Zefr spokesperson said the company’s research had the Star Wars preview on track to become the most viewed trailer of all time.

Avengers: Age of Ultron had the previous best first week with 50.6 million views.

Star Wars wasn’t the only trailer to lap Avengers this week.

The Jurassic World coming attraction notched 53.9 million YouTube views since it dropped on Nov. 25.

The Star Wars trailer has been reviewed, parodied and criticized since its release.

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens arrives in theaters on Dec. 18, 2015.

Jurassic World opens on June 12.

I find The Phantom Menace's dnr to be incredibly excessive. And I see absolutely no connection to Lowry's work on Aliens.

I will have every last one of them on DVD, blu-ray, and digital formats because I'm a sucker like that. What if I only bought blu-ray and my blu-ray player wits working?!?

This weekend actually, the blu-ray laser quit working on our living room player right in the middle of a star wars marathon. It's nice to just pick up the DVD disc and keep on going. If the DVD laser goes out too, I just switch to the plugged in hard drive.

It's a lost cause. Look at Amazon reviews. People badmouth music and movies even before they're released.

People have been complaining for so long, it's become the normal state of most forums. It's like people who try to manipulate the stock market by bad-mouthing companies just because they've shorted the stock. Except in this case, the people complaining have no financial stake, which makes it either better or worse, depending upon your point of view.

All this badmouthing of just about everything is killing industries. Can you imagine another year of nitpicking this film apart? It probably will still be enormously successful because even the haters will want to see what happens next, but the badmouthing could still hurt the box-office by $100 million.

What drives me nuts are the people who have been making the exact same arguments and repeating the same complaints for years in post after post. It's like dealing with a room full of people who have Alzheimers.

IMO, the complaints so far, based on shots 2 seconds long that might not even be in the actual movie are completely ludicrous. They hate Lucas, they hate Abrams, they hate the Abrams Star Trek movies, they hate the prequels, they hate the SW special editions. They mostly also seem to hate Spielberg too. In the trailer, they hate the sand, they hate the lightsaber, they hate that it looks like the PT, they hate that it doesn't and they're finding continuity errors in a trailer that doesn't need continuity. In effect, they're all like angry old white guys in suburbia yelling, "get off of my lawn!"

But that video of the "special edition" of the trailer was pretty funny - that was better than anything we see these days on Saturday Night Live. I don't know how people put these together so quickly. Whoever put that together was able to summarize in 79 seconds what people have been complaining about in over 60,000 posts on this site alone. As far as I'm concerned, nothing ever again needs to be said about the special editions.

I respect your opinion. For me it's beautiful except for the scene I mentioned earlier. The Predator UHE is the best example of excessive DNR. I wouldn't call Episode I excessive, but that's just me.

I seriously doubt any amount of internet whinging could keep ten million people home but who knows.

And oddly enough I think the enthusiasm might have a better chance of negatively impacting the box office.

It's going to be next to impossible to avoid spoilers over the next year (frankly I'm very impressed with how disciplined people have been to date) and every new reveal is going to push X number of people from 'gotta see it now' to 'I suppose I can wait for the disc'.

Though it may not seem like it, these complainers are the vocal minority. They bark loud but they're few compared to the many who don't care or don't share their complaints. No matter what any of them say, people will show up in droves, as they always do for a new Star Wars film.
Episode VII stands a great chance to beat all of the previous 6 box office records simply because it's Star Wars. Personally, I think it's going to be a huge success also because it'll be really good.

This one will be something I watch or not depending on how much shaky cam is used. Can't stand the shaky cam, it was a sad day when JJ got to direct this movie.
