Boyega looks ridiculous with the lightsaber. Hopefully it looks better in motion.

Whenever I see him I think he just walked on to set in his street clothes, he never looks in costume (apart from his Stormtrooper outfit). I think that's the reason he doesn't look right to you with the lightsaber, he looks too contemporary (plus he's a novice with it too). It's like he's picked one up in a store!

He looks the business with his blaster!

This. With the blaster he looks great but not so much with the lightsaber. At least in the promo shots.

Well, Han in episode IV looked painfully 70s too, in twenty years from now he will look in costume like everybody else.

I don't know ... it seemed pretty sci-fi to me! It's not like he had bellbottoms on. Their costumes were one of the things I loved as a boy, we didn't see stuff like that in Marks and Sparks!

I could wear Finn's gear (his trousers almost look like jeans) to my local Tesco and fit in quite well!

I'd imagine his jacket is going to be quite popular with the replica makers.

The shirt and vest, but especially the shirt are very much seventies, until you see him full figure (in the movie he first appears from the waist up) he doesn't exactly look very sci-fi which is also part of the charm I might add.

Sci-fi was probably the wrong word to use, especially considering the costumes the genre produced at the time! You wouldn't want to go to a fancy-dress party in most of those get-ups let alone walk down a street in them.

Han's outfit was alien but appealing and had it charm, as I kid you would have loved it but you wouldn't go near it as an adult. Princess Leia was pretty sci-fi in A New Hope. I think there's a risk of looking to contemporary, we don't want them to look like they shopped at the Gap. Firefly has the Star Wars charm, the outfits are great, but you couldn't really get away with them in public, they're relatable, but not too relatable. I think what we've seen with Finn is his costume is too relatable it's almost mundane. But we have no context to go with it, it's possible it's put together after he loses his trooper outfit.

Does that make sense?

Surprised no one answered you with all the activity this thread gets. I was there to see The Dark Knight Rises and it was real 70mm IMAX. Not sure if anything changed since.

I've been there in the past, and it's pretty good.
Currently I've been going to the IMAX in Center valley at the Prominade shops (near Bethlehem PA) and that one is awesome.

It mostly makes sense.

I think Han established the perfect look for the rogues in Star Wars thanks to his jacket, pants, shirts, etc. I think his swagger accentuates the ensemble and helps bring it all together.

I think Finn's jacket looks rogue-ish, like they really tried to recapture the right look, but the rest of the outfit looks generic. From what I've seen, Boyega doesn't seem to have the same level of swagger that Harrison Ford did. Chances are that he's not supposed to, but without that added persona, the costume and overall look won't pop out that well.

Awesome ship, boss.

Not sure about the name Finalizer, but I guess that's no different than Executor or Exactor or any of the other ship names.
