It's a rumor, and it's about a possible appearance in Episode VIII, not VII. So you don't have to worry... for now.

Because Hayden has been terrible in every movie he's ever been in besides Star Wars...

I have more faith in Rian Johnson than Abrams and George Lucas. He's probably the most competent director since Kersh and he far outstrips Kersh as a director. If Hayden has a role in Episode VIII, I know he'll be the hands of a very talented director. Hayden, in good hands, has always done very well.

Name them. I detest gross exaggerations. Life as a House was good. Shattered Glass was good. He wasn't even the worst element of the Prequels.

That is correct...he did not write the scripts or direct sitting in a room separate from the actors.

You're going to write off an entire movie for a cameo?

Takers
New York I love you
Jumper
Virgin Territory
Awake (*shudder)
Factory Girl
Trapped in a purple haze
Vanishing on 7th Street

the list goes on and on. I haven't seen a single movie he's been in where I haven't laughed at his 2x4 wooden acting

The Prequel's made a future Oscar winning actress look just as terrible as Hayden. All you need to do is watch Lucas direct Christensen in the behind the scenes videos. His direction amounts to "turn this way at this line", and then him explaining to Hayden things he already knows because they're in the script. "You think you're right when you're saying this to Padme." Duh. Even the OT actors remark on how Lucas isn't a good actor's director, which is why most of the memorable performance moments are under Kershner, someone who they all describe as a wonderful performance director.

EDIT: wormraper, only one of those cleared 51% on RT. You won't often find a great performance in a terrible movie. Unfortunately it's fairly clear that after the Prequels, Hayden wasn't offered top tier roles.

To be fair, it's also clear that he wasn't offered top tier roles before the prequels.

Yeah, well he was 19 when shooting wrapped on Episode II, so that's not surprising.

I've always gotten the impression that Hayden didn't enjoy his experience with the franchise and wants nothing to do with it anymore. So I'd be very shocked indeed if the rumors were true.

Again, Hayden didn't like the script for Episode II and said, "This isn't what I signed up for." Poor guy had to try and sell that nonsense and now has to endure unending mockery.

I had seen Ackbar in some promotional bit or another (along with Lando's Death Star attack co-pilot maybe?) so it's not exactly a surprise but this is the first bit of news that I'm not really crazy about.

I dunno, maybe I'm just still butthurt over Jedi sucking. It's only been like thirty years, maybe I still need time to heal.

I really hope Hayden shows up in one of the new films, because it will give him a chance to show the nobler, less panicked side of Anakin. Due to the story Lucas wrote, he never had that opportunity very much in the prequels.

32 years of waiting will do that.

If they must have young Anakin in the new movies, I say get Matt Lanter (the actor who does his voice in The Clone Wars) to play him.

I think there was some promotional footage that showed them making the faces for Admiral Akbar and Nien Nunb for the new movie.

The little 'practical effects' featurette maybe?
