It brought back memories of that very first time seeing the Star Wars movie when I was a kid. The long lines and when it finally started, I was completely entranced from beginning to end.

The trailer brought a lot of that back for me. It still feels new and fresh, too. George Lucas gave us something special with those first Star Wars movies. The prequels were okay, not great. But I still enjoy them.

I'd be the first to moan about the changes he made and I'll cheer the loudest if they ever do release those movies as they were originally done back in the day.

I am glad Lucas sold the rights to Disney and Abrams got to do this. I think it will be well worth the wait to get a new Star Wars movie that brings the original cast back together, even if it's just this one.

Just curious, but what made it underwhelming for you? I did find it somewhat reserved, but I like that. Granted, there are instances where it turns out that a very low key, spoiler-free ad campaign was concealing a POS movie(Tomorrowland, Indiana Jones 4), but I'm cautiously optimistic that we don't have another prequel situation on our hands with this movie.

It is a well known fact that James Earl Jones had Laryngitis at the end of doing his line reading during Jediand couldn't yell out "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" so Lucas had him do it all those years later for Sith.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens has established a new record, bypassing The Hunger Games as to move the most tickets in its first day on sale, Fandango reports. It didn’t just surpass that picture, it shattered its benchmark, outselling The Hunger Games eight times over.

The childish butthurt going on in here because Lucas didn't make this new film. Fact, Lucas is not a great director and not because of the prequels. He's like David Goyer, great idea man but that's about it.

I'm going to see it at 10:00 AM on December 19. My world won't crumble to the ground if I miss it on opening night, and I like pre-noon weekend showings anyway.

(Except for the new James Bond, which I absolutely want to see on opening day)

I'm seeing posts for people saying this trailer was underwhelming and I just can't fathom it. I honestly had to hold back tears to avoid having my kids see me letting loose some misty eyes while watching the trailer. It was glorious! Was able to secure opening night 7pm tickets at the Imax and I just can't wait!

Luke didn't do a very good job of burning Vader's mask. I guess plastic doesn't melt quickly in a galaxy far far away.

I figured little kid Kylo dug it out of the burn pile after Luke torched the body.

I guess since I am already going to see this, it didn't increase my excitement in any way. Just showed more of what we've already seen, except for the Solo girl climbing down a rope, an elderly Princess Leia and Kylo Ren torturing Poe. (I love how his torture becomes a forest exploding, that made me LOL)

And without the OT there wouldn't be any Jurassic Park or Phantom Menace. We can keep doing this until we end up back in the silent era.

The PT really just doesn't fit with the OT. It's design is WAY to clean for something 19 years earlier. It's sterile. Even the plot contradicts the OT in several ways.

I LIKE the prequels, but I'm sick of people trashing TFA with this stupid "well it's not Lucas so, neeeerrrr" crap. They are NOT the standard for Star Wars. Even Rebels and Clone wars were superior to those films. There's more than enough room in the galaxy for all three trilogies.

The PT gets hate, because they were not as good as they should have been. They're enjoyable, but disappointing films. Period.
New planets, like the one that is a huge sand desert... or the one that is completely ice... or the one that looks just like Yavin IV's moon, if it's not actually it. Of course there will be new stuff, but you get my point.

I said the prequels aren't perfect, and yes, it bothered me that some bits don't match well (who trained Obi Wan? Qui-Gon or Yoda? , etc, etc)

I am not trashing TFA, and I've never mentioned anything whatsoever about Lucas, I'm just stating my honest opinion and disappointment that people take some much sh!t on the prequels constantly, while I grew up on them just like you did on the OT and they mean as much to me.

''The PT gets hate, because they were not as good as they should have been'' The problem is that , for most people, they wanted the PT to be a sequel, or to have Han and Leia, they basically wanted a sequel trilogy like the one we're getting now, not a prequel.

The first SW movie I watched was Episode I when I was 5. It hooked me for life just like it did with you with the OT. And I love both trilogies. They are what they are and every movie has something in it that it's amazing and I love. I'm tired of the ''UOT without the PT is the TRUE and only Star Wars'' fans

Without ancient Greek tragedies, we wouldn't have any modern films.

There, y'all happy now?

I know the difference. Lucas just isn't a good director no matter how you cut it. Someone can have the opinion that he's a good or great director, but that's laughable and heavy SW bias is usually involved.

I was a little under whelmed by the trailer and I like that . It's not like they have to put it all in there to sell this movie . Save the good stuff for the show .
