It's great to see how much of it was real. When someone is blowing things up all around you, you're not faking your need to get the hell away from it.

Most of us didn't even think of the little details like how it got around the galaxy or what it was called before it became Starkiller.
gravity essentially means nothing in the Star Wars galaxy, their technology has mastered complete control to create and nullify gravity at will.

They also have hyper drives that can move them from point a to point b at faster than the speed of light.

I would wager that the Starkiller Base or a Death Star moves about local space by manipulating the gravity around it, and traveling through hyperspace when necessary.

According to Collider, J.J. Abrams said that the movie will have 10 to 20 minutes of deleted scenes.

I'm sure they can move the thing around with the same technology they use to
[Show spoiler]destroy whole systems
. All they need is some force to propel them out of orbit and on to their next destination.

I don't recall them ever explaining how they did this in the OT.

I cannot remember which thread but someone said today's movie goers want to know everything about the movie before they actually see the movie.

I thought movies were here to help us escape our reality not make us question the reality of a fantasy.

Just to point out for those who don't want to be taken in by the clickbait title, there are no deleted scenes shown at all in the above video.

Having seen Star Wars in 3D with Dolby Atmos in DBOX seating in December, this past week-end I finally got to Toronto to see it in Laser IMAX.

Holy Crap! Nothing compares to that PQ as far as cinema goes, I was a bet skeptical at first as I knew that screen was 70mm capable and was hoping to see it in 70mm 2D but the more I read about the black levels and contrast ratio, etc., I finally had my interest piqued. As usual the IMAX was too loud but I took my Etymotic Research ER20s with me and the sound was perfect. But the picture, oh man, even by the end of the IMAX intro I was sold.

The IMAX scene was of course absolutely ridiculously good seeing it in the full aspect ratio and I didn't realize Laser IMAX was capable of the same AR as 15-perf/70mm, stunning - but the overall picture quality was just massively beyond anything else I've ever seen. I have a TC-P60VT60, so I know what deep, inky blacks look like, I was blown away by how good the blacks were, and the brights, and the colors. And this was all with 3D glasses on yet all these characteristics were far superior to any other projected image I've seen in the cinema even in 2D...and I've done pretty much all tech to date as Toronto is always one of the firsts to get everything.

Blown away. Hope the next episode gets even more 70mm shots but even if not, I'll be looking to Laser IMAX for the remainder of the series. New 12-channel sound was terrific as well but there is no way we weren't being subjected to over 100dBs many times throughout.

I am torn, I want this movie to stay in theaters for a very long time and break all box office records, but at the same time I want to see it again and wish it would hurry up and get released on Blu Ray already.

Me too. I want it on Blu. I've seen it once on the big-screen; that's one entry on the bucket list crossed off ("Watch a Star Wars film at the cinema" - there are some more challenging entries on the rest of the list, don't worry), but I'd like to watch it on my setup at home and soak it all in. March cannot come quickly enough.

Has it been confirmed to be releasing in March? If so that is cool. We had to wait what felt like forever to get the others on Blu Ray so I guess I was expecting the worst for some reason.

My guess about a March release is based on other films released theatrically during December getting their Blu release around that time, namely the Hobbit trilogy and recent Bond films. I guess if TFA is still doing gangbusters at the box office in a few months, they'll delay the home video release.

What's this rumor I hear that Rey is not a Skywalker, but a Kenobi instead?
