This is a good article, by the way.
Good overview.

I feel for George Lucas.

The internet crowd is a very NASTY bunch, and they should be ashamed of themselves.

Thank you, George Lucas. May the force be with you. Always.

People Hating On Star Wars and George Lucas on the Internet is truly the worst thing that has ever happened in all of time.

And I'm sure Mike Godwin would agree with me.

Just a question for the hardcore SW fans, if someone were to want to read/watch the entire SW legacy how would one do it including books/novels/comics etc all in timeline order

Obviously I also know of

Phantom Menace
Attack of the Clones
Clone Wars (film)
Clone Wars (series)
Revenge of the Sith
A New Hope
Shadow of the Empire
Empire Strike Back
Return of the Jedi
Episode VII

But what comics/novels happen in between/before/after that and where would be a good place to get all of them?.

Amazon?

I stopped reading long ago. but anything you pick up that was published before 2000 is set after Return of the Jedi, with the few exclusions being Shadows of the Empire, the Han Solo trilogy, and another comic series about Han Solo's adventures in the Corporate Sector (I forgot the name).

Actually, this should help;

I never watched Lost, but I heard that it was
[Show spoiler]some comatose kid's dream
in the end. Although, I don't know if
[Show spoiler]his comatose state allowed him to see visions of
other universes and the lives of the people within them.

How important is the EU, really? I may not agree with Lucas on a number of things, but one thing I do agree with is that up until now, the story ended with Return of the Jedi. Anything after that is more or less filler.

I simply don't recall seeing any pre-2000. But I'm not claiming I read every Star Wars book before then. Probably lucky to have read 10% of 'em.

Chuck some titles at me, I may have at least heard one of their names in passing or seen it on the library shelf or something.

The Jedi apprentice series started in 1999 and that takes place before Phantom Menace. As you said the Han Solo Trilogy but also The Adventures of Lando Calrissian and The Han Solo Adventures. Then you have Dark Forces trilogy, Galaxy of Fear series, and Splinter of the Minds Eye.

Really it's not all that important since most of it is considered non-canon but for someone like me that has been reading it for years I found an attachment to it and really enjoy it. Give it try you may be surprised.

Honestly that's fine with me I have no problem with a What if.....? type of timeline along with the already established one.

Never read Splinter... but I hear I'm missing out?

The Han Solo Adventures was the comic I spoke of. Never read it even, but it's summed up in the Han Solo Trilogy, and it seems I'm mistaken in it being a comic and not a novel. Never heard of the Lando one.

I did read a Dark Forces comic though, and played something like three video games in its series, and forgot the whole thing in my list. Forgive me, I'm getting old...

I knew of the Jedi Apprentice series, never read it, and was thinking it was post-2000. Thanks for clearing that up. And I've never ever heard of Galaxy of Fear! Interesting title, do you recommend?
