I don't buy it, especially since the original actress (Caroline Blakiston) is still working and only a year or so older than Judi Dench. Plus, with the original cast and the younger generation competing for screentime, I doubt Mon Mothma is going to have a prominent role (if she appears at all). I always assumed Leia would have taken over as the leader of the Rebellion/New Republic by this point anyway. It's not like casting M is going to get more fanboy butts in seats.

This film should only really feature Luke training the new generation, with some small cameos from the alum. If not this will be worse than watching Hulk Hogan wrestle at age 60.

I just keep laughing the more I read about this film and the stuff that JJ says. There is an article over at Ain't It Cool where he talks about avoiding IMAX for this movie as the camera are unreliable. Too bad it is such a new format, if only a director would take the chance and film parts of 1 or 2 major films with IMAX cameras, people might view them differently Yeah JJ, Nolan's Dark Knight Rises with all those IMAX scenes took in more than double what your 3D Into Darkness took. what a goof!

So without pouring through all the posts. Somebody give me a quick update of where they are at with this thing. Is the script finalized? Has all the casting been finalized? Has a date been set to begin shooting? Feels like getting any confirmed information for this thing is like pulling teeth.

As far as I know the script is finished, done a load of auditions and they're in the pre-production stage of creating sets, costumes, props etc. No announcements of who's been cast or when shooting will begin.

I may be a ghost, but even I can't get through the walls of Lucasfilm and Badrobot.

The only ones I know for sure, are the ones you guys know, which is the big three.

no, they are still trying to get them. That is why JJ had to take over writing - give them bigger parts in the film. A brave and daring move on his part

Of course they are cast, Disney wouldn't have done the films without a least one of them cast to act as a tie-in to the old films. It isn't like appearing is going to hurt their careers at all.
