If this movie had flesh-eating zombiewoks ... I'd be there opening night. You betcha!

No, not really that interested. I find the talk about it and discussion around it very interesting. As I said earlier, the fact that J.J. is directing *almost* has me excited about it.

PG-13? I guess that settles the question of whether I was gonna take my 5 year old to see it. I saw Jedi in the theater back in 83 when I was that age, but that was a PG movie geared towards a younger audience.

I think Boyega is nervous. Pretty much the whole case is, I bet. I'm sure Abrams is sweating his balls off also. Because I would, too.

Well, I don't know much about 5 year-olds. So, I won't pretend I do.

I don't think the studio would have wanted a PG rating, to be honest. People associate PG movies with "kids' movies." Granted, I doubt they would have had problems getting butts in the seats, anyhow. But almost no one wants a PG rating these days.

And I don't know. I saw the original 12 times in the theater. The first ... I'm guessing 6 or 7 of which, I was 8 years old. It certainly didn't scar me for life or anything.

(Now, seeing The Shining when I was 11 ... that was SCARY! )

Was hoping for PG, Episode III was PG-13 for a reason, no reason for this to be unless they start burning Ewoka alive (not that there's anything wrong with that).

PG-13 didn't exist in 1983, PG ran the gamut from Jaws to Smokey and the Bandit to Return of the Jedi.

No reason for any of them to be nervous due to the fact that it's hiiiighly doubtful this will be as bad as the Prequel Trilogy.

Not getting the people who wanted this to just be PG and not PG-13. Star Wars should have a pair of balls to it, that doesn't mean there's going to be decapitations left and right.

Yeah, but Jedi was pretty tame. The funny thing is all I can remember from the first time I saw it is Vader's head when his mask is removed.

Default Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens

PG-13 is the equivalent of PG in the 1980s anyway. Like Ernest said, things from Jaws to Gremlins to Raiders was PG, and when the PG-13 rating happened, all the subsequent Indy films got that rating. It didn't at all change the family film nature of those films, and if highly doubt it will here. The PG-13 rating is basically the blanket rating for films these days. It doesn't mean kids can't watch. If you're worried about it, I would say watch it yourself and then make a decision if they could watch it. But I highly doubt the PG-13 rating will really put this movie much darker or more violent and less family friendly than any of the previous films. Much like The Prates of the Caribbean series, it's aimed at families, PG-13 rating or not.

All of your younger kids are going to appreciate that they didn't sh!t all over it by making it PG, when they're older.

I read that as "Return of the Jedi cop", now that's a movie I'd love to see.

I'm a little surprised people are still talking about this guy that bought a theater for a private viewing and not dismissing it.

My money says it's a fake. Some guy thought it would be funny to post on social media saying he did that.. or rather the girl posted about him. Either she is gullible or in on the joke.

There is only one ticket visible in the picture, the rest of the stack could simply be unprinted ticket paper. It wouldn't be that hard to get ahold of that paper for an employee of the theater. And, as one person pointed out, if you do the math the theater he bought out for the reported amount would be tiny.. somewhere around 200 seats.

1) No one in their right mind would do this
2) No theater would allow this
3) No real evidence is shown that he is telling the truth

I think it's more the incessant "intensity" of the action that gets a PG-13 these days, I highly doubt there'll be anything remotely like Anakin getting flame-broiled. Be interesting to see what the UK rating is, I remember LFL cut Ep II for a PG rating (removed a headbutt) and I'm sure they'd like the same for this in the UK. Not saying they'll cut it, but a PG would get even more bums on seats. Probably will be a 12A though.
