I think their reactions are sincere. Faraci isn't a non-sycophant just for not being blown away by it. At this point, everyone is flipping out, so hype is the name of the game. It'll take some months to have real perspective, for all of us.

Sure. One of the ongoing pre-criticisms people have had based on spoiler info is that it cleaves too closely to the original Star Wars. So he's saying that that's true.

He's also a well known curmudgeon though. I don't think he's able to resist the notoriety of being "the first guy who didn't like The Force Awakens!!"
