I really wish they'd have nailed that aspect more. The Jedi were supposed to be off their game, corrupt, not the guardians they'd made legends about. Shame we got just a bunch of dopes who talked a lot instead. It was supposed to make Anakins line that much more powerful. Ah well!

He had been brainwashed by Sidious for years, even his mentor and brother-in-arms couldn't get through to him. The most unbelievable part of RoTS was Obi-Wan just leaving him there to die instead of finishing him off. Then him and Yoda just staying in hiding for 18 years instead of actively fighting the Emperor and his mutilated protege. Hopefully logic will play a larger factor in the next two trilogies.

Hope those 10 critics who gave it a negative review don't get death threats.

They probably will with how ridiculous people act anymore, If you are that far gone that you call in death threats over a movie review (of all things) it's time to get out of Mom's basement for some fresh air and grow up.

So, I called my theater that I will be seeing The Force Awakens in, AMC Theater, and they informed me that they will not allow anyone in the building to see The Force Awakens till an hour before the movie begins (7pm showing). Any recommendations/advice on how to "time it out" and get good seats without getting trampled by the rush of the crowd??

Just returned from midnight screening (UK).

Holy shit, that was fantastic. 15 minutes in I said to my brother, this is what we wanted.

Kylo Ren as a villain was superb. Really liked Finn and Rey was great too.

5/5, hands down.

The big question now though is how to rank the 7 films...?

3/5

Drags in the middle but is redeemed by great casting, largely impressive action and the kind of energy sorely lacking in the prequels.

There's a ton of setup and exposition. Tough job for JJ but he did well.

Oh and
[Show spoiler]I HATED that helicopter shot at the end.

Hmmm well I'm starting to see reviews that are pointing out exactly what I was afraid of, it basically being a reboot/remake of A New Hope.

Still getting solid reviews but this is being mentioned a lot now.

I think right now, many will ignore this because of fanboygasms and the massive hype, but in time, when the dust settles, I think its gonna be a big problem.

Pretty much everyone coming out of the cinema was saying this. Seems to be quite a mainstream suggestion even now.

Honestly, I don't really mind the parallels. GL was always huge on rhyming/echoing. My bigger gripes are just with the story composition.

George has always been incredible with technical innovations, it's his abilities as a writer and a director that leave something to be desired. I will say again though, the fact that I seem to be stuck with this username forever makes me really hope this movie will shock me.

Define parallels though? There are a lot of similar elements, but IMO there was nothing that made me tut and think "oh that's funny..." Unlike the droid in episode 3 who just "erm... Wipe their memories yea?".

Storytelling can only have limited routes. Don't think there's anything that was wrong with this personally.
