Just got back from a 2D viewing. I give the film a grudging 3.5 out of 5, rounded down to 3/5 for the poll. At the end, some people in the audience applauded...I didn't think that the film deserved that. My star wars top 7:

I don't know if this has been brought up before but Tarantino has a 70mm film coming out on Christmas. The IMAX near me has a 70mm projector room but the odd thing is they list The Hateful Eight as 70mm coming out on christmas but they also list Star Wars as IMAX 3D on christmas as well. I know they only have 1 legitimate IMAX screen in the facility so I don't know if they intend on screwing people after 12/24 by charging them the full IMAX price and showing the movie in a smaller screen. It sounds like they are or they haven't actually planned this out correctly. I see they are charging the full $19.50 IMAX for Stars Wars on both prior to Tarantino's film coming out and after at my theater which makes me believe they are going to pull a fast one. I was planning on seeing this movie in 2 weeks but I might have to see it early next week if they are going to pull a fast one on people.

I just got back from seeing this (I was in a giant queue and that was for a 3pm showing), anyway I totally loved this. It's like the OT greatest hits with some subtle nods to the prequels.

There were some things I was annoyed about, things that I felt needed clarifying, but on the whole I thought it was brilliant.

ROTS is still my favourite Star Wars, but this is my joint second along with TESB.

So can anyone answer, did this movie treat the prequels as a red-headed stepchild? Or did it actually pay homage or pay respects to the prequels.

For all the hate the prequels get, I'd think it'd be an ultimate slap to the face of Lucas if they ended up pissing on the prequels in this.
