Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (USE SPOILER TAGS!)

Loved it. My initial reaction is it's up there with the other 6 episodes ('cos I love all of them).

For all the hate the prequels get, I'd think it'd be an ultimate slap to the face of Lucas if they ended up pissing on the prequels in this.

There are actually quite a few nods visually just not so much explicitly in the dialogue. As a fan of the prequels and someone with the utmost respect for Lucas, there was nothing that made me wince or cringe in TFA in relation to them. And I don't think it's a story spoiler to say Lucas gets a nice big credit once the film ends.

It just felt really abrupt but then at the same time it perfectly sets up Episode VII.

Saw it tonight. I knew I was going to love it after the first five minutes. The look was great and almost made me forget the horrible mess of the prequels. Star Wars is back!

Green4head, I don't know how to hide spoilers so I'll be careful here, but the inference was that he wasn't depressed, but had been deliberately programmed to do what he did at a very specific time.

If you're looking for an extension of the OT - a true sequel to the Return of the Jedi, then yes it is, but if you're expecting originality then you may be a little disappointed. As I said earlier it's kinda like the OT greatest hits. It worked wonders though.

Not sure about landmark. Certainly, the ship is steady again and financially that should be great for Disney. However, it is a good film rather than a great one. Much better than any of the prequels but not quite excellent in my opinion.
