Absolutely great movie!! Crowd was very into it. The best line of the movie was "The garbage will do!"

A funny thing happened at the Imax I saw it at. We were let in to the theater about 1:30. About 3:10 previews started showing. Then the movie started and made it to the end of the opening crawl before being turned off.

I wish han solo had a few more moments of being a dick like how he was in the OT. Its what made the character work so well .

There's an echo in here.

[Show spoiler]Thanks, but that doesn't matter to me at all. There isn't a single flashback to anything in ANY of the six previous episodes. Doesn't matter what it is… a flashback isn't "STAR WARS". Not a deal breaker; I'll certainly get over it, LOL… just a little style point that I don't love.

Quick thoughts. It ain't in the same league as Star Wars or Empire, but it ain't far behind Jedi. It ironically did a much better job with character development than it did in the action scenes. Kylo Ren was the biggest surprise of the movie for me. He is so much more than some lightsaber wielding henchman like Darth Maul which I was expecting him to be. I also dug Daisy Ridley as Rey. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens with her in the sequel.

Just got home from an IMAX 3D showing.

My experience can be summed up in one word - FUN!

I don't hate the prequels like others do. The prequels have their issues, but I still enjoy them for the most part. The enjoyment I had in the prequels was different than the original trilogy, though. The prequel enjoyment for me was marveling over special effects and technical merits, whereas my enjoyment of the original trilogy was because they were fun movies. The Force Unleashed falls right in line with the original trilogy because it was fun.

My only nitpick is that
[Show spoiler]Captain Phasma was hardly in the movie. By all the marketing stuff, it seemed like she would have had a more important role in the movie.

TPM and TFA could/likely will swap eventually, but until a second viewing I'll stand by this ranking.

Based on the responses so far, the fans just like things being blown up.

What made Star Wars special in the past was that it was fun for kids but had a great story underneath that was timeless. That timeless piece was gone here.
actually what most have in the complaint dept towards lucas is that he was a good idea man but a HORRIBLE writer and director, meaning his movies lacked story unless another director was involved ...that's what makes "TFA" so good. it ACTUALLY has a story

[Show spoiler]I was under the impression that this was actually a force vision, similar to that of Anakin in the prequels and Luke in the originals. Anakin has visions of his mother in peril and Padme dying in childbirth. Luke has a vision of his friends in peril on Bespin.

Ohhhhh… good to know. Haven't seen the film yet. Thanks for clarifying.
[Show spoiler]That's much better than a straight "flashback", which is what I originally asked about.

Dear God...This was incredible. I actually teared up a little during at the end of the opening crawl. Good thing I had my 3D glasses on. Man what a ride this was and everyone of the cast members did great. Daisy Ridley is going to be a star.

5 out of 5

[Show spoiler] I would say it is in similar vain to the flashes Anakin has about Padme in ROTS. Nothing to unStar Wars like.
