See they have not built as many as we all thought,it just sometimes seems that way....just goes to show your memory can play tricks on you sometimes.

The more I think about the film, the less I find I am loving it.

Dont get me wrong, its still a great movie, but it ends up being more of a reboot than an Episode 7.

If this is the Level of (un)originality we would have gotten had the prequels been directed by ppl other than Lucas, than I am forever grateful that Lucas had the balls to take the helm himself.

There's a Death Star in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, it's a hologram in AotC and partially built in Revenge of the Sith ...

My feelings on this movie were mixed. I'll write out more extensive thoughts later, but in short, I kind of agree with those who feel this was mostly a rehash of ANH. And most of the new "surprises" I could see coming from a mile away.

That's not to say the movie was all bad, and it improved on many of the issues with the prequels, but I didn't absolutely love it. I voted a 3 out of 5 in the poll here. I'll likely have to see it again and let it "sink in" more before I officially rank it amongst the other SW movies.

One quick question though for those who have seen it...

As I'm sure was the case with most screenings, the audience at the one I was at applauded loudly when the movie started.

Because of that, the audio was a little tough to hear. Was the Lucasfilm logo silent (meaning no music over it, and with no music happening at all until the "Star Wars" logo and theme started up), or did it have that same pseudo "fox fan fare" replacement music over it that the digital release versions of I, II, III, V, and VI had? (I never bought the digital versions, but have seen that clip).

I could swear it was silent, but again, with the applause I'm not sure. I know this isn't the most important detail in the world, but I personally hope it was just silent. I would prefer that over the replacement music, and I'm hoping that was in fact the case.

The hologram? Really?

Anyway, they're not operational and they're simply window dressing in Clones and Sith, with a tiny fraction of screen time. Set pieces are not built around the Death Star.

The Lucasfilm logo was silent.

I was pleasantly surprised to not see the Disney logo.

Saw it last night, just incredible! It delivered on every level! The visuals, many of which we've seen in trailers, were just jaw dropping!
The wait for VIII is already excruciating!

Now a few observations:

[Show spoiler]1) Does becoming a Jedi Master mean you flee to the farthest reaches of the Galaxy when the going gets tough?
2) So the Empire/First Order is now 0/3 with killer planets/stars...time to re-think that approach?
3) While Kylo Ren is still not fully trained, how the heck does Finn even come remotely close to holding his own against him?
4) Was the final scene with Luke filmed on location somewhere? It looked like it. I'd love to know where?
5) Is Snoke really 100ft tall, or is that hologram aided?
6) Did we ever find out what happened to Phasma? Will a trash compactor scene be shown as an extra on the BD?
7) Kind of impressive that the First Order could rise and be built up that much in ~30 years, but I like their style.
8) How does Luke's lightsaber project mental imagery when Rey touches it? This was very interesting and I hope it's explained more.
9) I wonder if Kylo Ren will don a full Vader-like suit after getting pretty badly beat up?

What can I say that hasn't been said before about The Force Awakens. Thoroughly enjoyable and I can now put the missteps of the prequels and any doubts I had can be thrown out the window now. This is coming from someone who enjoyed the prequels.

Can't wait for how Ep8 unfolds. Is it 2017 yet?

4.5/5 rounded to 5 for the poll.

Cheers,
CC-

Be that as it may, it still makes an appearance I those movies. I wonder if it's a paperweight somewhere in The Phantom Menace?

I agree, I also loved the movie and can't wait for the second one. Good questions in your spoiler tag.

I have a feeling we'll be seeing more of it in Episode VIII.

40 mins till showtime. It's weird, theater is about 20% full. No lines. Doesn't feel like Star Wars. Will give review later.

Last night, the 9:30 show was half full/or half empty. BUT! The 11:00 and 11:15 were sold out.
