Our cinema is 4k (and can do 48fps), so it looked super crisp.

the opening scroll I was too invested in the visual and then remembered I had to read the content. scim reading ensued.

there was
[Show spoiler]one prominent star destroyer visual which looked tremendous, as it sat in front of the death star 3. it was terrific.
Yes! The 3D for this movie was freaking incredible! I also loved that shot too.

[Show spoiler]the back story of Rey, but also of that of Finn and maybe even a little more about Kylo as well

Also on two fronts...
1.)
[Show spoiler]Finn and Rey battled it out with a WOUNDED Kylo Ren, after he was shot by Chewie. There lies the reasoning as to why Kylo couldn't and/or completely hold his own

2.)
[Show spoiler]Chewie didn't go after Han, because it was Kylo Ren and The Mission, not Han, that was his focus. When we finally see Leia and Rey meet, Chewie is tending to Finn, just as we saw Finn tending to Chewie earlier in the film.

We have to remember that Episode VII is a "bridge" film, where we see the mixing of new and older characters on one screen. The nostalgia for our old and favorite characters mixing it up with our growth for the new characters;
[Show spoiler]Rey and Han, Reyand Leia, Finn and Chewie, C-3PO and BB-8

This is also another reason why i hold my Ranking/Judgment of a film, especially those with anticipated sequels. If I gave TFW a 4.0, I was probably erroring on the side of caution. What we hear and/or see coming from Rian Johnson's Episode VIII is where I may draw my biggest conclusion from Episode VII, which from there, i will probably have a follow up "Re-Ranking" of sorts for Episode VII

Episode VII can be ripped apart to no end, but overall, it was safely executed by J.J. Abrams; Hopefully to have everything answered and explained in Episode VIII and IX
1. Is not true
[Show spoiler] he was crap, splashy and emotional from the start he had never fought a jedi don't forget and loses his shit and sabers inanimate objects

This means the plot of the movie changed a great deal from what might have been.
Yep, I noticed that, too. I've only see the film once, but
[Show spoiler]I didn't hear the whole conversation between Maz Kanata and Rey, either. Maz: "Who are you?" Rey: "I'm no one." Also, I don't remember Finn every saying: "I was raised to do one thing. I've got nothing to fight for."

I also d
[Show spoiler]idn't see the scene where Kylo Ren turns on the blade of his lightsaber first *and then* the cross guard gets activated a second later.

So, yeah. I noticed some deviations from the official trailer.

The shot is in there, its her
[Show spoiler]handing it to Rey tho the trailer was edited to mislead about Rey being the Jedi

I give it 3 1/2 stars. Five is impossible as that is the bar set by the originals. Four would be great in every way. It was pretty close. I dropped it a little bit because it lacked the Lucas touch.Something about the way George made his films was missing. He always had that meticulous way of filming and sound mixing that was a cut above the rest. Even his special effects had their own feel to them. That's not a knock against J J. Would have loved to see this story done by George on the big screen. All in all, I really enjoyed it. Rey and Fin were terrific together. Great chemistry. She is really cute and makes a great heroine. Problem is waiting two years for the next part.

I will edit and add when I get back. I am not good at this on my cell. Lol

Some random thoughts...

[Show spoiler]
- Poe making wise ass jokes after being captured by Kylo Ren. I really wanted Kylo to rip his head off after that. In some places it felt like I was watching a Marvel movie with all of the comedy sprinkled in. It was too much in some places.

- That being said, it really began to FEEL like Star Wars when we first saw Han. The Chewie and Han dynamic felt exactly the same. Loved it.

- Wasn't a fan of Kylo's first hissy fit.

- Finn, Rey and BB-8 are all awesome. Finn lasted a little too long with Kylo Ren and the lightsaber for my liking though. Should have been disposed of sooner.

-
[Show spoiler]Kylo felt like he was more powerful than Vader at times and just 'average' other times.

- Han's death was powerful. I still feel like I got punched in the gut.

- Why is 3PO's arm red?

- How the heck did they get Luke's lightsaber? Why was his hand straight to the metal?

- Not really any memorable moments from the score. Not bad either.

- I'm hoping that Snoke isn't actually that big and it was just the hologram.

- It felt a little weird not having someone that was a teacher of the Force. Even A New Hope had Obi-Wan around for that.

- It did at times feel like it was a complete re-hash of Episode IV but now we have the nostalgia movie out of the way and it's time to get to the meat and no potatoes. Bottom line: I was left wanting more. Is it May 2017 yet?
[Show spoiler]Kylo is supposed to be mentally unstable.

Finn was trained in combat by the 1st Order, so I'm not surprised that he lasted longer than you expected him to.

I get the feeling that Kylo Ren is not easy to train due to his mental instability. He does some things really well with The Force, but he is undertrained/poor in others. He's not a complete product yet, and I'm not sure if he ever will be.

Luke's right hand probably had the synthetic skin worn away over time exposing the metal underneath.

I think it was a hologram. There was a flickering of light.

Not that I noticed/recall. If I'm not mistaken, this movie mostly (if not entirely) takes place on completely different planets than any of the previously films.

For example, the desert planet in the film is called Jakku. It is not Tatooine. Though frankly it may as well have been Tatooine.

I think it will be explained to us that Luke was helping her battle Kylo via the force. That must have been that divine moment for her. And I honestly thought that when she was about to end Kylo, that Luke used the force to split the ground between them.

In all honesty, I much prefer the choreography of the Prequels than the dueling we saw in Force Awakens.

Finn looked like he was awkward and not polished. Who knows if he has some force capabilities.

And Rey, she looked awkward with the stick too.
[Show spoiler]I don't think he does. I think that he just got by with his basic stormtrooper training from the 1st Order.

More than that
[Show spoiler]the first order troops that Phasma trained were selected from birth and trained over the clone armies the first order normally uses.
Look at how good of a shot he was at times

[Show spoiler]If you watch him, he's yelling and shouting, exerting too much energy. And his offense looks amateur, while his defense looks desperate.

So yeah IMO he looks awkward.

[Show spoiler]I don't really understand why they cast The Raid guys and they didn't do a damn thing but get slaughtered by the Rathgars? Other than minor quibble though I thought the movie was perfect.
