I don't remember it and it's one of my gripes from the film, and it feels like there was probably some type of scene that was shot then cut for time or something.
[Show spoiler]Was a weird way to leave her character, especially since we know she will be back.

A score can really accentuate the bigger moments in a film and give them more power than they actually have in some instances. Could even make or break a film. Imagine Halloween or The Exorcist, or even the OT without those classic themes. Some find a score more important than others and that's not a crime!

There is no magic. Not even John William's score has anything to offer. I think they kidnapped his family and forced him to write a score for this one.
Only the VFX are good.
Never again.

I went with my wife, cousin and my sister, and all of us hated it, and agreed that this was no Star Wars film, and that there is no SW without George Lucas.

I am surprised that J.J. Abrams could even deliver such an abysmal tragedy of a film.
Yeah, but how did you really feel about it.

I don't know, I have to disagree on all points.

for me.

I can't believe I was able to watch what felt like the first real Star Wars film since I sat in a theater in 1983 watching RotJ. John William's score was right on point. I think his family must be really proud of him for this one. The VFX, story arc, new (and old) characters, humor, suspense, and drama were all fantastic and all played together very well. I have to go watch it again.

I went with my wife to watch it Thursday (my second time) and both of us loved it, and agreed that this was a great Star Wars film, and the franchise is better off without George Lucas.

But that's just me.

I plan to see this in 70mm IMAX in the next few days. It looks like tickets are predictably well booked since there are very few showings each day. I've got my earplugs ready as well since this sucker is probably going to be an earbleeder.

No...my bet is that the original music didn't stand out on first viewing either. It may have worked for the film, but no one walked out humming it either.

It's just that since then, we've heard it thousands of times. So in comparison, any new score is going to sound blah the first time we hear it as well.

Loved it. Fin and Rey were astounding. Kylo Ren was such a badass. The way you felt it when he used his saber and the force were so cool. Can't wait to see it again.

4.5/5 for me.

Default Box-Office Magazine Now Predicts Record $250m opening

Box-Office Magazine just predicted a record $250 million opening weekend domestically in the U.S.

Quote:
Saturday Update / Early Weekend Projections

By Shawn Robbins

(Excerpts)

The numbers are in, and Star Wars has re-written the record books and all preconceived notions of what's possible at the box office all over again. Disney estimates The Force Awakens launched to an unprecedented $120.5 million on opening day Friday, blowing away the previous single day and opening day records of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 ($91.1 million) by a whopping 32 percent.
...
Excluding Thursday's night record-smashing $57 million launch (which also beat the Potter finale's $43.5 million previous record), The Force Awakens grossed $63.5 million on "Friday proper". Strong word of mouth is clearly driving a historic debut as fans and casual audiences alike turn out to be among the first to see what has ended up becoming arguably the most anticipated film in history. That unofficial title was once held by Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, which debuted to a (then record) Wednesday opening day of $28.54 million. Even when adjusting for inflation and 3D ticket prices enjoyed by Awakens, the latter title sold more than twice as many tickets in its first day than did Phantom.

For more stats: Awakens not only beat Revenge of the Sith's $50 million opening day (a record ten years ago) with Thursday night shows alone, it has now earned more in less than 30 hours domestically than Phantom Menace did in its first six days of release. The Force Awakens also bested Jurassic World's $81.95 million opening day last summer by 47 percent.

In the process, The Force Awakens toppled The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey's (now former) December weekend record of $84.6 million by 42 percent in a single day.

The even better news is that word of mouth is overwhelmingly positive among both fans and casual audiences. Disney reports an "A" CinemaScore, with women and younger audiences giving it an "A+". Flixster reactions are excellent at 93 percent, while Rotten Tomatoes critics currently sit at a stellar 95 percent among hundreds of reviews counted.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahaha it's the KING of all prequel butthurts! I knew you wouldn't like it! Waiting for your 5 or 6 sisters on the board to cash in next. This is greatness! Once to original un-raped trilogy is released on BD your failure will be complete.

Honestly the best thing to come out of this movie is that now hopefully Daisy Ridley and John Boyega both get great careers

They both have terrific screen presence and Boyega is really funny so I hope he gets to show his comedic chops soon

The score is great. It isn't littered with iconic themes, but I'm telling you, Rey's Theme and it's variants throughout the entire film is one of my favourite SW themes ever, so perfect. As is the final track, which I won't name for obvious reasons. This film, ain't perfect, but guess what, neither are any of the SW films. I watched it a 2nd time today, and all my gripes just melted away. The emotion I feel watching this film, and the enjoyment of the whole story from start to finish, it's just wonderful. It's what cinema is all about.

Did anyone ever stop to think that it was done on purpose? OMG people it used most of the elements from the original to draw everyone in! The next film will branch out more and take some more chances. Most of us wanted to hear the original music from back in the day anyway!

[Show spoiler]Not to mention that he was emotionally spent after killing his own father just minutes earlier and probably not as focused on kicking ass as he should've been.

Wait, so seriously, Bluyoda loves the prequel trilogy so much that he hates The Force Awakens?? That has got to be rare in fandom. I can understand the haters who say it's too derivative of the original, but this is just nuts.

The most ironic thing to me is that George Lucas released statements saying "This is the movie that the fans wanted" and "To me, Star Wars was always about family", when the truth is, TFA is a better movie about family than George Lucas could ever write or understand. I don't like to come across as a Lucas hater, because he has given us so much, but I've had 30+ years to realize that the guy is a great story pitch writer and producer, and a terrible script writer and director of actors. The films speak for themselves.

Lucas didn't like this film because he is now and has been for awhile a bitter old man. He became what he hated so long ago. Its good to see him taken down a peg or two. It will be a great day when this one tops the all time box office record and he will have played no part in it!

These couple handful of PT lovers/ OUT haters are all gonna say the same thing on this board. Always have since pre 2011! To them I say go play with your I-III BD's!

I asked that yesterday, which is about 2billion posts ago.
[Show spoiler]I recall Snoke telling Hux to retrieve Kylo Ren, but couldn't recall if he said Ren and Phasma. I'm inclined to say no.
So I guess we are led to believe she made her way out of the Trash Compactor...this is on the assumption she went in the trash compactor!

For someone whose not really into Star Wars I have to say I really loved this.

Really strong characters and really well executed action sequences. I absolutely loved the first half more than anything but then that ending came in and just loved it all around.

4.5/5 from me.

P.S Saw this with one of the best audiences in a long time, everyone was so invested by it that I didn't even hear a single word coming out of them.
