@Ranger_Steve Piss off, you bloody jerk!
While I don't hate the prequels either, although Ep1 is the worst of the entire saga, I've been called a prequel apologist recently, as I try to defend those films. But, at least I won't have to do the same for Ep7. Nice work JJ and co.; Hope Ep8 is just as good.

Very true. Seemed like a missed opportunity. Honestly wish there was more Captain Phasma in general, maybe the next one?

My least favorite is Attack of the Clones. Phantom Menace at least had some really spectacular sequences moved fairly quickly. Clones just frickin' drags for me and suffers from middle movie syndrome rather badly.

I think all those PT movies drag almost to the extent where you can not miss 30minutes to an hour of the films and not much would change, same of the hobbit movies, and coincidently both are examples of a director or person in charge with too much power and control and little know how.

Star Wars VII earns half a billion dollars at the box office in 3 days. Cool and well deserved in my opinion. A number of people still planning to see this when things settle down, so this will have a long run in theaters no doubt.

Anyone know what the budget may have been to create Star Wars VII? I'll guess $250 million to make.

Dunno.
Maybe it's because it's a rushed and subpar sequel. They just tried to do too much with one movie. I'm definitely picking up a glass half full perspective from those who like this movie. Doing all the work to try to make sense out of the many questions left by the characters and events. In any other film, these would be called out as plot holes but because it's Star Wars it's getting a pass. I'm a huge Star Wars fan but I just can't let them off the hook here because it's Star Wars. I don't want or need to have everything spelled out for me but they just had their way too much without connecting the dots a little more. I don't want them to ask me to do all the homework to make sense of it.

It's a trilogy. We've known it was going to be a trilogy. So, for me, I look forward to seeing the questions get answered over the rest of the movies. It's not plotholes when you set things up for another film. It's just set up. I almost feel like you're saying they did too much, but not enough at the same time. I could be wrong though. Either way, it's too bad you didn't enjoy it more. To each their own.

I know he's serving as a producer on both Star Trek Beyond and Episode VIII, but beyond that, I don't know. I'm sure he deserves a big ol' break, tho.

Well, in a sense they did but at the cost of pacing and character development. Characters take time but that part felt extremely rushed to me. They were all creating these strong bonds with one another but they barely knew each other. I don't feel like I was given enough time and information to understand and care about them either. After the slow start, it was off to the races. Those character connections could've been paced much better. The other side of the coin was trying to fit too much into one film. Trying to do too many things and make too many nods to the OT. I would've loved a narrative recap of the last 30 years since ROTJ just to get us up to speed. There's a lot of new names and groups and I need the time to get acquainted before throwing them in conflict is going to mean something to me. This mixture didn't sit well at all. No one is more sorry that I didn't enjoy it but me.

My second viewing was on IMAX 3D. I really enjoyed it. The 3D was good, not not perfect.

This is me. I've gotten there. Especially with STAR WARS fandom. Fandom in general but them especially. And I use to be one.
