Just to be clear, I'm not making fun of you and I've got nothing against CGI (the Arnold nod in Terminator Salvation was actually half-cool).

But the thought of the boys in the lab whipping up a quick copy of Sir Alec Guiness makes my brain hurt.

The technology right now is clearly not there yet. Bridges in Tron Legacy was a laughable failure and young Arnold in Terminator Salvation was also badly handled, but my point is by 2015 or beyond CGI replication of actors might be advanced enough to pull off half-way realistically which would be the only logical way to bring back Guiness (even though if I had my way I wouldn't want the character of Obi-Wan to be in the sequel trilogy at all.)

I remember back in 2009 that Cameron claimed that the tech was now available to do a Dirty Harry prequel and not be able to tell if the actor was real or not in the finished product. Well I guess that might be correct if they dump a huge boatload of time money into that effect. But yea the tech is not yet ready for it to be economical.

But anyway should be a lot easier to do a force ghost that way because of a lot less detail that would be involved in that particular character.

I remember there was a rumor going around that Lucas was toying with the idea of doing some extra shots of the Obi Wan/Vader duel in A New Hope to spice it up a little bit. If true then I'm sure he would've been using CGI representations of each character. It might be fairly convincing if the shots were far away, wider angles.

I think people are reading too much into it, it's just a bit of fun.

And that post back last page is the reason I hate Star Wars' fanbase. It's just a little fun for a Star Wars themed episode of Extreme Makeover that was shot LAST YEAR. Long before the deal with Disney. Yet they treat it (or at least the original trilogy) as some sort of holy relic that should not be desecrated. Just let it go.

Although, I do hope that the image of the clone trooper is used in anything Disney/Star Wars related in the future.

First week of shooting Depp. Eisner was apparently quite upset with Depp's choices.

Agreed. I respect Nikki Finke for what she created - a blog that eventually brought down Daily Variety - but she can come across as quite the bitter troll every now and then. She knows she needs site hits for ad revenue, and so - like AICN - every now and then she'll engage in a steaming pile of yellow journalism to get people riled up and start a flame war. With AICN, it's astonishing how Harold can write a horrific essay full of typos and bad information, and then profit from everyone clicking on the article so they can call him names. He laughs all the way to the bank, making money with every click in the talkbacks. This piece by Finke is exactly like that.

And besides, if she's going to throw a Fox News blog-tantrum over that, heaven forbid she should go to the Disney Parks in May or June:

(But then, most of us at the time didn't know whether he was supposed to be gay or Keith Richards, either. )

That just happens to be possibly the best and worst thing I've ever seen, both at the same time. No words exist to describe that horror/brilliance.

Most Awesome thing ever. Though C-3PO doing The Robot was pretty awesome as well.
