Lucas didn't own theme parks on a few continents. Just throwing that out there about why all this stuff needed to be figured out ahead of time. Anyhoo...Kasdan is a master of story structure, they rolled up their sleeves and worked their tails off. It's a massive, massive undertaking across all possible divisions...so much more to it than your typical franchise property. Very good people working very hard.

If I had it my way, Disney/Lucasfilms should hold onto December as Star Wars month. I know Rogue One is next December and the cast is looking great already yet, December feels like that right time of year to see any type of Star Wars film I would of liked to see a December 15 or even December 22 as the release date for Episode VIII, but I know May IS Star Wars tradition, and May 26, 2017 will be quite something, can't wait.

Gareth Edwards and Rian Johnson, don't let us down... May The Force Be With You.

What did everyone think of the Atmos mix?

Where I live, only a few screens have Atmos and I haven't heard good things about it. Everyone talks how impressive the demo at the start is and how "regular" the movie sounds.

I watched it with the standard mix.

I saw it in 2D in Atmos yesterday after watching it in Digital IMAX 3D at a traditional IMAX theater a month ago. I agree it didn't stand out as much vs the digital IMAX audio mix. Also, IMAX Digital 2K (even without the expanded sequence) definitely beats standard digital 2K projectors.

I do wonder how the Dolby 7.1 mix was. I would guess that its probably similar to the Atmos mix.

I thought the 12-channel IMAX mix was more immersive from a height and surround standpoint. I saw it in Atmos/DBOX and then again 2 weeks later in Laser IMAX.

Hopefully the script rework will change the movie instead of just copying the original trilogy.

JJ and Kasdan mapped out the plot of the entire trilogy. Rian Johnson asked for JJ to change some things in Episode VII for ideas he had for VIII, Colin Trevorrow asked for some tweaks on VIII for ideas he had for IX. The general story for all three is done. Each director is bringing their own sensibilities to their respective film, and the scripts will be interesting, to say the least.

Hopefully no one will compare the next movie to the original trilogy. I know that will be hard to do since the words 'Star Wars' are going to be in the title.

That's one reason I think that either a) Luke isn't her dad, or b) He is but she will find out after his possible death. Having a "I am your father" reveal is just too much of a reminder of that famous scene.

The scene unfolds on top of the Jedi steps.
[Show spoiler] Rey with Luke's lightsaber in her hand, her arm extended and the pleading look on her face. Luke just stares her down.

Rey whips out a pen and says, "Will you sign this for me? I promise I won't sell it on Ebay."

Luke struggles with the dark side and not wanting to lash out with anger. "Don't you want to know if I am your father?"

Rey drops the pen and squeaks out, "Luke Skywalker's my father?"

"No, I am not your father."

They stare at each other some more. It's very intense...Luke giggles.

"Okay, I am your father."
