That's the problem with the movie as whole. We expected/wanted new characters and for this movie to develop them but what we got was ready-made goodies and baddies from the original story. You can't really create drama in the space of one movie with characters that are easily pigeon-holed.
[Show spoiler]By that, I mean, the earlier bit of the movie was made to look like he was a Vader clone, then turned it around by making him take his mask off and having daddy issues etc.
So some were disappointed he wasn't as good as the real Vader.

Usually making of books released around the same time as the film. But anyone know why this one will only released in October this year? 10 months after the film. Will they reveal Lucas' draft?

I just watched it, expecting more shots that were mirrors from the original but most of the similarities implied by the person who edited it were pretty tenuous at best. Sure there were some plot elements that are similar between the two but to imply that Luke looking at 2 suns setting was the same shot as Rey eating at the foot of a fallen AT-AT while looking at the horizon is ridiculous... or comparing the similarities between lightsaber battles as though JJ was supposed to come up with an entirely new way to show 2 people battling with light swords, the creator of this video needs to channel his own creative talents into something of substance, if that's possible.

You could string together days of footage from dramas that have the same talking head setup, there's an aspect to filmmaking that's tried and true in proven shot setups to convey a feeling and when you're working in a genre film that has had 6 films created prior to it you actually have an obligation to work within the universe that's already been created.

I'm assuming this video was meant to be a hit piece on JJ Abrams since there had to have been a considerable amount of work trying to match shots between Ep 7 and the OT. I could go through each shot he compared one by one with a sarcastic comment about each but I really can't justify that effort.

I really did find him to be the most interesting thing about the movie, he's this wannabe Vader who's broken away from Luke's training (was it confirmed that he slaughtered his classmates or was that only ever assumed by people?) and joined the Dark Side.

There are echoes of his grandfather in his petulance, sure, but what I like about that is that he's almost what Young Vader would've been immediately after his fall from grace. We got the whiny brat in the prequels, we got the big imposing mofo in the originals, but we never saw the Vader that really transitioned from one to the other as a character and Kylo kinda fills that gap for me.

I agree that Kylo Ren's VII story has a solid conflict there of
[Show spoiler]him doing evil in the name of the First Order and Vader, but openly fighting the lightside within him, showing that he's still adapting to the darkside a little. I'm pretty sure Kylo will become super evil in Part VIII, then by IX, show some of that light side again when it really counts...

I don't watch Friends, but that was a funny montage introduction.

Not really sure where to post this, but I love the guy's channel and I'm thrilled he finally tackled Star Wars.

I don't think people were thinking he'd be a new Vader, no one can. His presence is lackluster to the baddies before him. In the beginning he seems tough but later he is a baby. Vader, dooku, grievous, maul... they all had a big presence which kylo lacks. Grievous may not be on the same level though.

Desert hobo REY claims "no links to the Jedi" then uses the Force LIKE A PRO to beat Kylo Ren?!

What does she know?

...When did she know it?
