I'm not a "troll" I'm somebody whose views go against the popular grain. I'm an individual. I'd rather see dragons, fights with weapons, Arnold Schwarzenegger (NOT Statham), singing where it sounds like what you hear in Brave with King Fergus, etc. I don't relate to songs in Disney films about feelings and stuff.

Focus 100% on Episode VII? Like drop whatever you're doing? Maybe not committing to 2015 means bringing it forward to May 2014?

As for 2015, The Avengers was released in April 2012, maybe they can do something similar? The Avengers 2 on April 8th and Episode VII on May 20th 2015?

The Avengers 2 has been confirmed for May 1, 2015 in the States for 5 months. When Disney set that date they were aware that they were making Star Wars 7. If they wanted to put Star Wars 7 in May they never would have given Avengers 2 that date.

And moving it up to April still wouldn't address the Marketing issue. Like I've said, no studio wants to market 2 tentpoles this size at the same time. We all know what happened in '99 when TPM was being marketed. It was like a blackhole sucking up all the other marketing into crushing oblivion. Now take that and add on the Avengers marketing. Two huge tentpoles from the same studio vying for attention. I know it seems like a marketing dream for the studio, but they want there tentpoles to shine on their own individually. Not overshadow each other. Studios like a more substantial buffer between films this size. The only way I see Star Wars coming out in Summer of 2015 is if POTC 5 gets moved out of July, and providing Abrams is OK with 2015 which knowing him he won't be ok with it.

Lack of production time. Sources close to Abrams are reporting he hasn't commited to 2015. He doesn't rush his projects, and he keeps saying he wants to give the fans the best Star Wars he can. Add that on top of the fact that he has yet to commit to 2015 and its telling of the way he is approaching it. Most likely this was one of the provisos he got for taking the job. If he wants more time then he gets more time. At this point I'm expecting the film in Winter 2015 or Summer 2016.

In other news,

Terrence Stamp, who played Chancellor Valorum in STAR WARS: EPISODE I- THE PHANTOM MENACE, recently spoke with Empire about his experience working with George Lucas.

Quote:
"We didn't get on at all. I didn't rate him that much as a director, really. I didn't feel like he was a director of actors; he was more interested in stuff and effects. He didn't interest me and I wouldn't think I interested him. I came all the way back from Australia to do it. I didn't want to but my agent leaned on me and I wanted to meet Natalie Portman because I'd seen her in The Professional. And I did meet her and she was absolutely enchanting. But on the day I'm supposed to do my scene with her, for which I'd travelled halfway around the world, I said, 'Where's Natalie?' And George says, 'That's Natalie,' and points to a bit of paper on the wall. It was just boring."

That.

But I still believe there could have been a separate team in charge of handling the 3D releases.

I don't believe what he said regarding Natalie. Piece of paper.... what rubbish. Yes, I know there was bluescreen, and it was required for the type of effects they were using, and what they were intending to do, but I refuse to believe that the Natalie in the scene was CGI.

I think Natalie was inside this fake vehicle and he was in another, and that there was bluescreen walls around them so that computers could create the rest of those... whatever they were in.

He isn't saying Natalie was CGI. He is saying Natalie shot her scenes against green screen on different days than him. The paper was a marker so he could get his eyeline right. What Lucas would do was put an actor against a green screen. They shoot their scenes. Then he brings in the other actor on a different day and they shoot their scenes against green screen. And so on and so on. Then he composites all these pieces together in a digital environment. It looks like they were all in the same room but many times these pieces are shot on different days without the actors ever seeing each other. You can find examples of this in the making of documentaries in the special features.

Lol, that doesn't mean she was CGI. It just means that they filmed the scenes separately. Since so much was done against green screen, they were surely just able to superimpose him into certain scenes.

It's actually the perfect demonstration of why the acting was so wooden in those films. Not only that so much green screen was used, or that some of the actors filmed their scenes separately - but that George's brilliant direction involved pointing to a piece of paper on the wall and saying "...that's Natalie."

But surely there were scenes filmed with two or more actors together in the same area. I've seen behind-the-scenes photos in print where that was the case.

That would be why I said "some" of the actors.

No singing in Atlantis, The Black Cauldron, Rescuers Down Under, Lilo and Stitch, Dinosaur, Chicken Little, Emperor's New Groove (beyond opening credits), Meet the Robinsons, Bolt, etc.

He didn't say all actors and all scenes. Some actors film their scenes alone. It depends on the duration of their shoot and the type of scenes they are in. This is very common in film.

You still don't get it. There is no franchise that has been brought back from the dead like Star Wars. Think of the marketing for The Phantom Menace. Remember that insanity. That is the level we are going to see from Star Wars 7. Now imagine Disney pitting that against another one of their major tentpoles like Avengers 2. Ain't gonna happen. Even if we take profits out of the argument it would still be a logistical nightmare.
Don't tell me what I don't get. I'll talk to you like an adult, and you do the same for me. K? K.

Studios pit blockbusters against each other all the time, and make out like bandits. Avengers separated by Star Wars by three weeks? A logistical nightmare? What's a nightmare? See, Disney won't "pit" one series against the other, they'll twin them. They'll use one to promote the other.

Man, some days...

You keep ignoring the main point. Disney is releasing both. You keep saying blockbusters go head to head all the time. Those are from separate studios. This is an entirely different scenario. These two are from the same studio. The numbers and profits change when its from the same studio. It looks very different to the stockholders and execs. They want maximum profit, and they want it evenly spread across the year. You don't blow your wad mid way through the fiscal year. WB bumped HBP back 8 months because they didn't want it in the same business year as TDK, and you honestly think Disney will release Star Wars 7 only 3 weeks after Avengers 2? Basic business logic dictates otherwise.

I'm not ignoring your thesis, I just don't buy it. Do I "honestly" think Disney can release SW7 22-23 Days after The Avengers 2? Yes. Hell, yes. Why would I be "dishonest" about that? As for "basic business logic", I think a late May release of Star Wars would prove far more problematic for Warner's Justice League in June, not The Avengers, which gets the jump on everyone.

We'll see. Won't we.
