No, they will ALWAYS be SUMMER films. I'm not sure JJ is directing all three though, so unsure how they plan to film them.

I have a feeling J.J. will be on board to at least produce all three. Directing all three is probably a possibility, but I think he'll be very hands on with the series over the next few years. Hands down these stay May releases though.

I really don't see how this is possible if 2015 is the date for Episode VII. Avengers 2 is being released May 1st of that year, and both being owned by Disney, I cannot imagine they would want to release two different billion dollar films in the same month. Why compete against themselves?

I have no idea what month they plan on releasing Star Wars, but if Avengers 2 really is released May 1st I think it would be a terrible idea to try to fit both in only weeks apart.

I doubt they'd release it in the same month as The Avengers 2, which I doubt Disney/Marvel would move. I'm thinking Disney might delay Pirates 5 and release Episode VII in July. Or Disney would try to fit in in March, but I'm not sure if that's doable.

All six of the original films have been May releases. They won't change that now. Opening this the last weekend of May, weeks after 'The Avengers: Age of Ultron' is released, won't really hurt it at that point. That was around the time the first film was finally dethroned by 'Men in Black 3' at the box office anyway. Giving it three weeks before unleashing 'Star Wars Episode VII' gives them the fullest box office results possible, while keeping the tradition of late May releases.

There's still tomorrow. They might be leaving the best to last.

Good point, Walt!
And let's not forget, Star Wars is "grandfathered in" for May releases.

Another item to consider: Disney didn't pay 4 billion for any of those other film franchises. You better believe the Star Wars franchise goes right to the top of priority seating...well in the case: screening.

Not having a new Star Wars in May would be a travesty however I wouldn't mind having Star Wars in the winter. Having Avengers and Star Wars in the same month is murder to my wallet!

I think Star Wars could open at any time of the year and be huge. The SE's opened in the winter and were big.

The Avengers is the third highest grossest film (worldwide) of all time
It's theatrical run was 22 weeks!

Disney would not pit Avengers against Star Wars or vice versa in the same month, would they!?
