Agreed. This actually makes me pretty excited. I mean empire is considered the best film sooooo I think they're going the right route.

I still don't see how they think they can start filming spring 2014 and it be ready by 2015. I have to wonder if some of the delay in shooting has to do with getting Mark Hamil and Carrie Fisher in sufficient enough shape. Not trying to be funny. Serious question.

There's no saying it will be. I still think it'll be a May 2016 release.

It's all rumors right now though. Nothing is really confirmed. Lucasfilm will take their time if they have to. That's why the movie hasn't been dated yet. They're hoping for a 2015 release, but 2016 makes more sense.

I think you're right. They don't want to rush it. They'll need at least a year for post-production, re-shoots, plus time to promote it.

Having said that, I'm sure Disney is anxious to see a return on it's 4 billion dollar investment! I hope they don't rush this project just to meet a deadline!

I still say it'll be May 2015, because Star Trek Into Darkness was filmed from January 2012 and came out in May 2013, which is just over a year. It can be done with quality maintained.

The reason the prequels took three years was the sheer amount of CGI needed, not to mention technology wasn't as good in those days and a hell of a lot of green screen was used.

There is no confirmation of anything in that article specific to a date, except to say that their plans are for spring summer...news flash, plans change. Until there is a press release this movie doesn't have a release date. Only plans

Disney gets the marvel movies out on time. I think they can manage this movie which will have had a four year production by 2015.

Unfortunately, I think some will be unhappy, right out of the gate, no matter what!

I'm not doubting it. Just saying that plans change, and nothing is set in stone yet. I don't care if this movie is late or not, as long as it isn't boring.

100% For sure, many people will be unhappy no matter how this movie turns out. There will be something done wrong according to a certain percentage of fans. It's inevitable!

I hope you're right, as I can't wait to see this, but I would rather them delay the release than for it to be rushed in any way. Also, not that I'm questioning you, but I don't quite understand that how pretty you are has anything to do with it.

We have 2 production designers, very few film do that the last one I know was Avatar, and one of them is Robert Zemeckis and Steven Spielberg's favorite Rick Carter which I've been admiring since the Back to the Future movies. Honestly while JJ Abrams is okay, but I still have a bad feeling about this™. I want somebody from the old days such as Steven Spielberg, etc, but that won't happen so I will be nervous about this right until release day.

The news of Kasdan writting is 50/50 with me. On the one hand he wrote Empire. On the other hand he hasn't written anything decent in 25 years. That raises some flags.
