I also don't like the dialogue change with the Emperor scene. It makes it sound like Vader's finding out for the first time that Luke is his son which is absurd. And this is confirmed by a kid's book I saw in a store recently about the life of Anakin that does in fact state that he learns that info in that conversation. |

Yep. He's obsessed with finding Luke. Knows his full name. Knows he has Force abilities. Knows he's young. Yet somehow we're supposed to believe he had no idea they were related until Palpatine spelled it out for him? Sh-tty writer George Lucas from the last 2 decades needs to stop retconning what talented writer George Lucas from the 70's and early 80's came up with.

Anakin/Vader had no idea he had children. Palpatine told him they died along with Padme. He has little reason to suspect besides the name, which may be a common name across an entire galaxy. Think about an unusual last name and then search for how many people have that last name in your country, let alone the entire planet, and even further an entire galaxy. And if you notice, the only significant change is Vader's line "how is that possible." Meaning...he's confused about Luke's parentage and is putting things together for his confrontation with Luke at the end asking him to kill the Emperor and rule the galaxy with him. Once he finds out that Luke is his son, someone he never thought even existed, he immediately puts plans into motion to turn him to the dark side and kill the Emperor, though of course he doesn't let Palpatine know the latter part. If anything, it makes Vader look smarter in the long run.

Dig it: He knew Padme was pregnant. He didn't see how she died so anything could've happened to the child (as scripted, Anakin and Padme assumed she was carrying one child). He obviously knows it's his son in Empire. He's playing dumb with the big boss so he can turn Luke himself and use him to destroy the Emperor. Last edited by Geoff D; 05-20-2014 at 11:53 PM. |

It was also specifically written this way in the novel. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Funeral_of_Padmé_Amidala "In order to hide the fact that Amidala's twins survived, her body was prepared to still appear pregnant." Last edited by Dotpattern; 05-21-2014 at 03:25 AM. |

Ya know what's dumb? Vader trying to play Palpatine like a fool, while telling everyone around him he's looking for Skywalker.

The one fan edit of Revenge of the Sith called "Labrynth of Evil" is the only watchable version of that film for me. And Padme does not die 'from a broken heart' (I cringed just writing that), but she takes baby Leia to Alderaan as it should be. I never watch Ep. 1 and 2, and rarely watch any version of Sith so I don't have that attachment that some may have to Padme who would find it weird that she dies off screen in between the trilogies.
Anyways here's a clip of it. I think this was an unfinished version of the edit but you get the idea, Padme bringing baby Leia to live on Alderaan, which makes more sense when you hear Leia talk about her mother in Jedi http://vimeo.com/87827411 |
