That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard of. I would say it is all BS but it is based on an outline by George Lucas and if the Prequels have shown us anything that stupid isn't out of the question.

Hmm, I dunno, nothing about this makes sense. Would the hand still be holding on to the lightsaber after that fall? And wouldn't it be on Bespin rather than in space? And shouldn't it burn up if it entered the atmosphere and fell down on a planet?

Hopefully it's fake.

I don't mind Luke's hand floating through space if it was just recently cut off and is made of a metal that can withstand the heat of traveling through an atmosphere.

Getting past the stupidity of a hand floating through space holding a lightsaber for 30 plus years but the fact that it just happens to land on Tatooine is absurd.

This rumor is so out that are dumb that it almost has to be true. If you were going to try to fool people with false info I would think you would try something a bit more believable.
