From Faraci's Twitter: "I'm starting to get intriguing feedback on my STAR WARS scoop. I may end up corrected on some aspects, but I feel like I got a lot right."

True to form, he's backtracking without actually backtracking.

Dunno if this has been mentioned here but elsewhere it's been said it's Luke's mechanical hand, and that's how it survived re-entry.

Which also means Luke somehow lost his hand again and that's one mystery to be solved.

If that's the case than he's starting to catch up with his old man when it comes to losing limbs be they organic or mechanical.

As opposed to 7+ Star Wars movies and 100+ Star Wars books?

Well, if it was Vader's hand, it would have to be Vader's lightsaber, not Luke's. Of course, then there'd be no reason to look for Luke, if that's really the plot.

Someone above thought that Luke's hand should be used to create an army of "bad" Luke clones. At first I thought that could be interesting, until I decided it would come across like an old Danny Kaye comedy. Vader clones could be slightly more interesting, since you can't see his face. But why would you clone someone who's mostly machine? (There is one reason: to create beings with a high midichlorian count).

I still think this idea of the hand and lightsaber is all a joke. I bet someone saw a draft piece of artwork that shows a hand held vertically holding an active lightsaber (I can easily imagine such a poster in my head) and like the game of "telephone", that evolved into this rumor that Luke's cut-off hand and lightsaber travels through space and is found 30 years later. The movie's producers are probably having a good laugh about this, if they're paying attention at all.

Basically, he shared with us a load of what I suspect to be false rumours and he's now adding a subtle disclaimer.

That's right. And as I posted earlier, back after Episode V was released, a friend of mine surmised that Luke would eventually become like Vader and be more machine than man. Of course that never happened.

An interesting storyline could be that even though Luke never turned to the dark side when he was young, he could turn to the dark side now. And his friends try to turn him back.

Faraci specifically states that the lightsaber is Luke's. He's waffling on whose hand it might be, but his "scoop" flat-out says that the 'saber is Luke's.

Yeah, which is about as close as his massive ego ever gets to allowing him to admit he's wrong.

If Luke loses his hand a second time I think it is probably time to put the lighsaber away. Also stay away from the garbage disposal and all power tools. Probably anything with moving parts.

nope but he sure did direct them and produce them. But directors and producers have no control over the script so I guess you can't blame him

Yeah, JJ was just following the script like someone following instructions to assemble a gas grill. He had no choice but to follow everything exactly as it was written, no creative control whatsoever.

What if Luke's lost hand is all we see, when in reality Luke is being kept alive by machine, much like Vader was.....OOOOooohhhhhhh!

If the stupidity of the floating hand in space turns out to be true (I don't for a second believe it is) I hope they take it further and Ford gets his wish and Han dies. I hope Leia admits to Han that she still thinks about that kiss she gave Luke and that she has been living a lie. And Han dies of a broken heart.

yep. He also made it cool and relevant again and brought it back from the ashes when no one wanted to touch it and made it accessible to everyone. At least that is what everyone keeps telling me when I make these same complaints. Personally I think he is more hype than talent but apparently I am wrong

So dumb question, if they find Luke's hand why not Vader's too? It was chopped off in Jedi. Does this mean a thumb war?

I don't care about his hand. I want this movie to explain why Luke, in Return of the Jedi, wore aunt Beru's hairstyle from 'A New Hope'.
