But yeah, the original Clones would be too old by the time A New Hope started, unless more were being made. I never read any of the books, so I don't know much history on that.
I think after the Clone Wars some stormtroopers were cloned but from other templates, not Jango. But by the time of ANH I think that was phased out and most of the Stormtroopers were regular recruits.

One thing that has occurred to me...if these Stormtrooper helmets, Han costume designs, and cyborg with Vader helmet images are real....why hasn't LucasFilm demanded websites take them down as theft of their property?

Let's just continue the lie that the PREQUELS used way too much CG and not enough models and practical sets even though it's factually correct that EPISODE I used more model work than the entire Original Trilogy COMBINED.

This is why I'm not looking forward to the press tour for these new films. It'll just be a "the Prequels did it wrong" fest for the next 6 years.

No respect for what Lucas did with the franchise and cinema.

The picture of the alleged villain has to be fake.

It looks like a retread of the typical Terminator/Chatari/Sentinel/every other cyborg in the fantasy/sci fi universe.

The Inquisitors are their own kinds (although recycled from Utapau in ROTS and look somewhat like Ronan from GOTG).

Now it opens with Solo
[Show spoiler]piloting a Super Star Destroyer?
I guess he got a good deal from a used spaceship dealer.

Maybe that's what they want us to think. Taking them down will only confirm that they're real.

Well, EPI in fact looks really good, the problem is that the puppet work for Yoda was evidently rushed and some of the CGI elements are a bit grating.
Even in the others there is some superb model work but sometimes it feels like they tried too much to merge it with CGI instead of the other way around.

With EPISODE II, I agree. But not with EPISODE III. It's perfect blend of the Lucas ethos. It's exactly what he wanted to achieve with his digital backlot idea.

Not sure I agree with that. They haven't criticised the prequels merely said they want to strike a similar tone and feel to the original. Even Lucas said the prequels are a different tone and feel. Somehow I don't think Kennedy and Abrams are going to start having a go at Lucas. It might also be worth mentioning that praising the originals is praising Lucas too - he did after all create those too.

I could be wrong but is there a single moment in Episode III where location shooting (with actors, not as background plates) happens. As far as I can tell every aspect of it is studio based with lots of CGI extensions. Could be wrong though. Not meant as a criticism as it depends on the needs of the film, just an observation. So far EP VII seems to have been to Abu Dhabi, Ireland and outside in England so it could well have a very different feel.

I wonder how many "so, when are the theatrical cuts of the original Star Wars films going to be released?" questions Abrams is going to get when doing press for this film? I want them as much as anyone but it's not like it is his decision or he would have anything to do with them.

EPISODE III was way more studio based in it's filming than the first two films but had tons of sets and mountains of digital photography plates that were stitch together to make some really beautiful photorealistic matte paintings.

Screw that he raped the end of Return of the Jedi with what he did to Vader then what he did to Shaw. Empires additions were not so bad, but there is no reason they cannot release the UOT we still have Lucas version. Lucas no longer owns them it was his stubbornness that pulled this crap to begin with.

Disney own the franchise now so I'm perfectly fine with them releasing the UOT.

Lucas made some good improvements, but he also ballsed things up i.e. Jedi rocks, Vader's noooo, DNR'ing the hell out of TPM and smearing AOTC in a horrid teal tint. The list goes on.

How do we know Lucas didn't change his mind about the UOT being released? He has had three different "original vision" versions released already. Perhaps he changed his mind again.

The gave him $4 million dollars worth of respect. It's belongs to them now for good or bad. And just like the release of the Special Edition doesn't negate the originals, neither will the originals negate the Special Edition.

As long as there's money to be made, I expect we will see both version continue to exist.

Pixar releases what it wants, Disney distributes. Marvel releases what it wants, Disney distributes. ESPN runs there own outfit, Disney is a parent company.

LucasFilm is going to do what it thinks is best for their company, Fox has distribution rights until 2020, unless LucasFilm buys them out. If the unaltered trilogy comes to high-def home video next year (and I'm betting that it will), that will be LucasFilm's decision to spike interest and goodwill for the new trilogy. Healing old wounds. The Mouse won't be ordering LucasFilm to do it. That's not how Iger operates, and it's the reason Lucas agreed to the acquisition in the first place.
