I think at this point it will just be a 7th SW movie, not an actual Episode #7 nor an extension of the Skywalker family. The Skywalker family was Lucas' baby and he finished that story. Now Disney can create a new story, but in the same universe with all new characters. I'm thinking we will see something very familiar but also very different.

As for the 2-3 years, let's be honest I do not think that means we will see another movie every 2-3 years for the next 20 years. Not even POTC lasted that long and was very lucrative. I think right now their plan for the next three movies is to release them every 2-3 is all they meant. And let's be honest, if they can do it in 2 years, that's a great thing and I think they can with the right director.

Star Wars is extremely viable as a brand, and has taken MUCH more money than the PotC series. It might seem like a lot of wishful thinking (every 2-3 years does seem very optimistic) but there are people who will go and watch them, just because they love SW. Disney won't go far wrong financially if they put another instalment out every 3 years.

I am actually OK with that, if done properly. The big concern with a new Star Wars movie is the lack of Darth Vader. He was the interesting story arc we all wanted to know about and that has been completed.

I think they would have to go to old times(Old Republic) to get a story line we all would be interested in. Jedi will be necessary and after Episode 6, there is only 1 Jedi and 1 soon to be.

They could take a queue from the Jedi Knight games however not sure how well that would work on screen.

Exactly - if it makes enough money, Disney will jump through hoops to get as many out as fast as possible. And I'm fine with that, too - after all, if I didn't agree with what they were doing, I'd just not go and see the films. I've done it plenty of times before.

I'm sure that Lucas has already planned out a decent villain like Vader was - after all, he was the main component of that series, and Lucas knew how important he was to both the story and the fans.

We'll totally forget about Darth Vader once Shia LaBeouf is cast as Anakin Solo.

Yes!!! 20,000 more years of Star Wars!

I'm not. If his last big interview was anything to go by, he wanted to be done with his baby and it's fans.

YES! Bring that on! And hopefully we'll have Uwe Boll as director of a couple, too.

Would we get to see a lightsaber cane?
See the episode Lightsaber Lost from the Clone Wars, season 2 .

I suppose the Clone Wars will be relocated to a Disney Channel (is it XD?), nothing more. From what I gather they have left Marvel alone so I see little reason why they would heavily mingle with Star Wars.

I don't know if any one has noticed but the Star Wars.com now has a promo video of the current Saga, under the heading "The Skywalker" saga.

Just posting what I read, that's all. Point being, the existing films will continue being released by Fox.

I know theres a depth to his acting that most people dont notice! if people gave him a chance they would see he is far better as an actor than say Robert deniro, Al Pacino, zac effron!

I wonder if Disney will put something with the trailers during Episode II's 3D debut in theaters in February. Not that they would have a completed trailer by then or anything, but maybe something just to mention that Episode VII is coming in 2015.

Agreed. Some of these responses are downright embarrassing. I just laugh reading that this news "destroys my childhood" or "ruins my year". I grew up with these movies like everyone else did, but come on. It's not that serious.

There's so much material to use from the Expanded Universe. Personally, I enjoyed The Truce At Bakura, The Courtship Of Princess Leia, The Thrawn and Jedi Academy trilogies.

And even though they can't follow the books from which they're from, I would love to see a movie featuring Prince Xizor as well as one with our heroes trying to obtain the Kaiburr Crystal.

Re: George Lucas

Even though his fall from grace was his own damn fault, I can't blame him for selling out.

Maybe Episode 7 will be about Ben Skywalker and his children? That could work.

Please no more Clone Wars stuff, and no KOTOR stuff. I want NEW material that occurs AFTER the Second Galactic Civil War.

I feel like such a nerd after writing that sentence.

Understand all the frustration but really, I think this is a good thing, Lucas did a TERRIBLE job with the prequel trilogy and Disney did something wonderful with acquiring Marvel, I think this new trilogy will be something worth getting excited for. All the Marvel films were AMAZING, so I expect nothing less of the Star Wars films. This is definitely good news to me.

I could be wrong here, I often am. But with Disney owning Lucasfilm & Marvel. They could technically release as a bonus feature on some future film.

A short animation fight between the two green men?

Hulk v Yoda
