Vader killed a bunch of children and like 1 maybe 2 Jedi, the clones did all the killing of the Jedi. Was it a dark film sure, was it what had been played up since the beginning of Star Wars no, truthfully that movie could have been the darkest and and craziest of all the movies. It could have blown Empire out of the water, but it failed on so many levels with the wooden acting, and the piss poor dialogue. Hell the movie could have easily been a hard R had it been done right and really made up for all the mistakes that was AOTC.
First, I think you're taking Obi-Wan's statement too literally. He says Vader helped destroy the Jedi...not that he did it all by himself. Secondly, we don't see how many Jedi were personally killed by Vader, aside from the two in the security recording. Thirdly, Lucas didn't want to make an R-rated "Star Wars" film; that's why Vader murdering those kids isn't shown.

I'm saying it was uninteresting.

Blowing up the Death Star was awesome. The first time.

The second time?

Meh.

I love how coyly she delivers the "it's only because I'm so in love" line in particular, you wouldn't think that this was the same robotic character from the first two films. She's laying on the edam triple thick, switching into mock-seriousness for the "So love has blinded you?" follow-up, and then even Ani eases up when he realises he's being teased.

It's just such a shame that it took so long for us to see what Padme's really like away from all the politics and war. The deleted scenes with her family in Clones would've helped greatly to humanise her some more (perhaps laying the groundwork for the audience to accept the above scene on the balcony in Sith), but that stuff had to go because Clones couldn't do without the silly droid foundry action sequence which was tacked on in the pickups. *le sigh*
I agree that some of the Naboo scenes with Padme/Anakin and her family should have been in the movie proper.
They really strengthen their relationship, and flesh out Padme's background much better.
I honestly expected them to be in the BD version of AOTC.
That's a missed opportunity IMO.

At least the one, where she is looking at him through the window, while he is talking to her father, and she has that short exchange with her sister/mother.

I love that bit where she's gazing out of the window at Anakin, it says more about her love for him than any bit of corny dialogue. But it got cut.

I think my least favourite moment in the entire Star Wars franchise, was Anakin riding on that cattle-like creature (with a monstrously sized arse) in Attack of the Clones. When he also falls off and feigns being injured to Padme.

*shudder*

Truly horrible scene imo.

They be the Naboo Ass-Cows. Thing is, I love the scene when they're just talking in the field but when we get to the CG animal tomfoolery I'm done, I'm out.

My second least favourite moment of the entire franchise, involves yet another creature - the moment where one breaks wind in front of Jar Jar Binks in The Phantom Menace. If I wanted to see humour of that kind, I'd watch Kevin Smith's Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back (which surely has the most expensive and elaborate fart joke ever created).

The animal farting and Jar Jar saying "pee u" was Lucas' way of teasing what you were going to get for the rest of the prequels.

I hate that one too. Worst thing about it is that Lucas added a scene where Shmi tells Ani to be safe (in the podrace) right after it, so you get a great big fart and then this tender moment between mother and son while the stench is wafting around them. Why not cut the fart and just have the Shmi and Ani scene? Because he's the Goddamned George Lucas, that's why.

Yeah, I often take issue with the huge amount of post-1997 Lucas bashing but there's just no way to defend that particular moment. A massive low-point.

Hmmm. There's nothing like that in Revenge of the Sith.

Meh.

In all fairness, a "bigger, meaner" death star in construction phase was pretty cool looking. And the "its' fully operational" reveal made little kid me go "whoah..."

But in retrospect, it is treading old ground. I would like to see something different. No more death stars.

The Star Wars Holiday Special was Lucas's way of teasing what we were going to get for the rest of Star Wars....after seeing Harvey Corman being an aliean Julia Childs, Chewbacca's dad watching some kind of weird porn video, and Jefferson Starship singing into a big blue dong looking microphone Ewoks, Jar Jar, and Midiclorians should have been no surprise whatsoever.

Seeing as Lucas didn't write it I don't see how this relates.

What he did write was a lot of Empire, a fact which seems to get lost around here.

People seems to purposely discredit Lucas in everything. In the old days, any books about the making of the films will be burned.

Wow. Peter Jackson + Martin Freeman + Benedict Cumberbatch + an Episode VII trailer and I still don't wanna go see The Hobbit.

Wow

Star Wars holiday special - 1978

The Empire Strikes Back - 1980

Hmmm...

That aside, if anyone in the world genuinely thinks that ROTJ, TPM, AOTC and ROTS weren't massive improvements (in terms of both writing and execution) on the infamous holiday special, they should clearly have all of their movie-watching rights automatically revoked.

I'm only interested in going to see this once in cinemas. Otherwise I'm not even a Star Wars fan anymore. Haven't been for awhile.
