Another possibility and i know this is way far fetched but..

He could possibly be (Darth Sidious) the real Sidious...i don't recall palpatine ever saying or even acknowledging that he was him or seeing Sidious listed under Ian's name
Or maybe he is Palpatine????
Maybe Sidious disfigured him on Naboo used his name, and took his place in the senate, and forced him to go into hiding on Tatooine??

A few seconds? Absolutely ridiculous assumption IMO. The scene in which Harrison Ford got hurt is alone more than a few seconds. There would be riots in the movie theatres. The old cast will have plenty of screen time in Episode VII. If they aren't killed off, they may just have quick cameos in Episode VIII as the new cast takes over the franchise.

I've always interpreted that Darth Sideous is Palpatine. I can't remember, didn't Yoda call Palpatine out as Darth Sideous before the big senate chamber fight?

Darth Vader's is in a flashback scene..Carrie Fischer's real life daughter, Billie Lourd, plays Leia in a flashback sequence. Darth Vader appears in this flashback as well, which apparently takes place on Endor


Yoda's appearance is that of a force ghost..Luke has reached a level of understanding with the force that rivals his former master - and because of that, he's able to communicate with some very familiar faces. Luke speaks to Yoda's force ghost in the film. He is also said to be in contact with Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon in addition to Yoda

The general public don't hate the prequels. Even most of the critics like them especially Revenge of the Sith (80% RT).

This is common, the negatives are always the most vocal ones, that's why we always see them.
