He was too busy changing the OT again. Then he remembered he doesn't own the series any more so why bother?

Hopefully that bouncy little droid is just in that one scene and Disney made Abrams put it in there for the kids. Or it plays a major role, at the end of the trilogy Luke is face to face in a lightsaber battle to the death with the main villain and about to be killed when the little droids comes bouncing along, hits him in his foot and distracts him so Luke cuts the evil Sith lord's head off.

The little droid will probably get the shaft like Chewie and not get a medal.

I always laugh when fans expect Lucas to be as obsessed with Star Wars as much as they are. That's just not realistic in the majority of creative works that gain enormous fan followings.

Did he not take it down to the wire?....he cares. If Disney/Fox try to release the Original unaltered trilogy I would be willing to bet anything that like a good Jack in the Box he pops up again. We have not heard the last from Pop Up George I tell you!

I think this statement gives more meaning on what he thinks about the new film:

Lucas was also asked if he was curious to see what director J.J. Abrams has done with the series for it’s seventh chapter, to which he reportedly replied: “Not really.”

He really just don't care anymore.

That's good though, we don't need Lucas and his shitty input to ruin yet another film.

I disagree, we might not want him in the director's chair or writing the full screenplay, but we need all his input we can get. He's a great ideas man, where he is now as a creative consultant is just perfect. I'm actually disappointed that now he don't care anymore, I really hope at least his story treatment stays intact in this trilogy.

Oh FFS.

Lucas said he isn't interested in the trailer. He wants to see the ENTIRE COMPLETED FILM.

Quote:
Lucas said that although he hadn't watched the trailer, he still planned to see Episode VII when it's released in December 2015, explaining that he had avoided the early footage because he liked "going to the movies and watching the whole thing there."

Haters are really grasping at straws to say anything negative.

The interview definitely could have been worded a bit better.

I can see how someone might read that bit and think Lucas is being apathetic or grumpy. But I figure Lucas meant he just wants to stay out of the creative process and to experience the film like a normal person in theaters. He isn't saying that he doesn't care about the film. He just doesn't want to ruin the theater experience by hanging around set like a crew member.

And I don't blame him one bit for doing this. For the first time in 40 years he gets to step back and experience this world he created in a new way. As just a viewer like the rest of us. Plus, It's got to be a bit of a relief to not have the weight on his shoulders. By staying out of the production the fans can't blame him if something in the film pisses them off. That's got to be a relief to know that his hands are clean no matter how this turns out. Lucas has always been shy (now he's finally getting out of the Star wars spotlight) and I don't doubt that the truckloads of backlash he got over the PT and special editions wore him down. Lucas is finally free. Well as free from all this as he is ever going to be while he is still alive.

Nobody said Lucas wasn't interested for this film, he not having seen the trailer never a problem for me. But when he's not curious about the decisions made while making the film had me feeling, sad. I want him to be involved, gives advice and ideas and make sure everything aligns with his vision. At least for the main Skywalker saga. He is the creator of this universe.

I know many franchises goes on without it's creator, but this is just my feeling with regards to Star Wars. These films are very dear to me, I grew up with them. That said, I have great confidence that it will be very good. Just that I will know that it didn't come from the creator. The same reason why I don't bother with EU. As I said before I hope his original story treatment made it into the film, that will certainly make me happy.

This is just a feeling of mine, others will feel different and that's fine.

It might make you sad, but after nearly 40 years of working on Star Wars and all the grief and fan backlash of the past 17 years I think he has earned retirement if he wants it. He's not getting any younger, and I'm sure he wants to be free of it and just enjoy life without having Star Wars and the fans hanging over his head. I know that might seem absurd, but put yourself in Lucas's shoes. He wouldn't be the first creator to grow tired of their creation and the weight and pressure that comes with having created such a popular thing.

You know, George Lucas is also responsible for pretty much everything that's GREAT about Star Wars.

And I would be willing to bet anything that no matter what he says or does - including saying or doing nothing at all - you're going to pop up minutes later to declare it the worst possible thing he could have said or done.

Any takers?

Lucas is a compulsive liar - Ive never seen such lack of honesty and sincerity from all his interviews over the years. Whenever he answers someone's question, the only thing that consistently seems to be behind his words are, "Dont give an honest answer. Be vague. Dont be modest. Being honest or being enthusiastic about one's work is a sign of weakness."
