Honestly, killing off one of the original "trio" characters wouldn't be a terrible idea if done 100% right. As long as the death is as the result of a major character that means something huge to the Star Wars universe and not just as the result of a new character to Episode VII that's barely had a role yet.

It would be an interesting turning point for the series to shift the focus to the new cast, but it would have to be done right to justify it and not get the fan base at their breaking points.

Makes me wonder if Indy 5 does happen if Ford would have some sort of role in that, passing on the torch to another actor, and continuing Indy's title and adventures through into the 1960's, still keeping him a young man.

I think there will be no passing the torch" storyline for Indy, the new actor will be playing the same character, Dr Henry Jones Jr a.k.a. Indiana Jones. Thr character name is too iconic to change, much like James Bond.

I would imagine the first new Indy movie would have Ford in the beginning and ending of the film, with the middle 90% be Pratt playing the character. Perhaps he's telling a story or some such thing.

Also, I think its super annoying that all the outlets talking about "Indy 5" keep calling it a "reboot"... If Pratt takes over the same role its not a reboot, its just re-casting a younger actor to take over.

Default Is The Force Awakens....(Cursed)

While chatting with TheDailyMail on Sunday, Carrie Fisher revealed that she had a car accident in Los Angeles just a few days before Harrison Ford’s plane crash. Maybe Mark Hamill to stay home at least for the next few days.

‘It wasn’t that serious and I wasn’t hurt but it’s the first car accident I’ve ever had. I drove home and that’s when the wheel came off my BMW. My assistant told me I could have died if the wheel had come off when I was on the freeway.’ Laughing, she added: ‘Then I was watching the news and saw Harrison had his crash. ‘I’m a bit worried it’s the curse of Star Wars.

The actress now fears that one of her other co-stars will also suffer an accident.

‘Things happen in threes,’ she said. ‘I’m about to call Mark Hamill to make sure he’s OK. I have a horrid feeling there’s a curse going on here.’

As you know back in January 1977, Hamill was involved in a car accident which severely injured his nose and cheekbone

Ford will show up in a picture as Indy's father or as an old mentor for the new Indy - they will make sure and have a way to pass the torch, just depends if Ford wants to appear in the movie or not.

In a way, I think Lucas is smart not to do anything with this new film. People complained about the prequels, let's see what happens when he isn't involved and things go bad. Just look at the expanded universe - this new film means the whole expanded universe is gone(even though they are still pumping out toys from it like crazy) yet I don't see people having the same sort of fits that they did when Lucas made a change. Lucas is in a no-win and he doesn't want to do anymore Star Wars - why get in Disney's way? You know he is going to get the blame anyways since most people won't know they are not following his ideas.

The reason the outlets are calling it a reboot is because the studio has been calling it one internally...Everything that's been floating around at Lucasfilm is having the film set in the late 20s or early 30s, where they can start fresh. You could either lead into Raiders that way, which most fans probably won't want because many are adverse to prequels, or start fresh. It's a sort of no win scenario, but starting fresh may be what's best in the end. So don't blame the outlets, so much as the people behind the scenes who are saying the word.

Default You guys got some reading to do...

Before Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theaters at the end of the year, there will be 20 new Star Wars books released.

The books will all be set in the 32 years that have passed between Return of the Jedi and the new movie.

Disney Worldwide Publishing and Lucasfilm have confirmed that the series -- which includes adult and young adult novels, comics, and children's books -- will be filled with clues to the new movies.

These new stories will be considered OFFICIAL CANON now, while the old Expanded Universe has been discarded from the official storyline.

The series, called (Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens), will be released through Disney Publishing Worldwide imprints and at least seven outside companies, including Del Rey and Marvel Comics. Announced titles include:

Star Wars: Aftermath (Del Rey)
Star Wars: Journey to the Force Awakens (Marvel Comics)
A currently untitled preview from C-3PO's perspective (Marvel Comics)
Star Wars: Ships of the Galaxy (Studio Fun International)

There will also be a series of YA novels not specifically tied to the series from Disney-Lucasfilm Press which will explore the characters from the original trilogies.

Announced titles include:

Moving Target, by Cecil Castellucci (follows Princess Leia)
The Weapon of a Jedi, by Jason Fry (follows Luke Skywalker)
Lost Stars, by Claudia Gray
Smuggler's Run, by Greg Rucka (follows Han Solo)

There is no specific release date for any of the planned books, and many are still being written and edited. But they should all be out by the time Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theaters December 18.

I'm glad the plan is rolling forward as it has been. There's going to be a lot of good material. A few adult novels, a bunch for kids and young adults, and a few new comics. It's just good to see the new canon in full swing now. The first three novels so far have been very, very good, and the three new Marvel series have been excellent so far. It's a really great time to be a Star Wars fan.

Default George Lucas surprises fans at Midtown comic book shop.

Now that Lucas doesn't have to got through the 10yr hassle to make another trilogy..anyone wonder what he's been up to lately??

The creator of Star Wars himself was spotted checking out the new Marvel Star Wars comic book line in New York City!

George Lucas delighted fans when he unexpectedly stopped into Midtown Comics in Times Square and bought three “Star Wars” comics.

“He came in and was browsing the store, looking at the ‘Star Wars’ stuff,” a shop employee tells of his visit on Monday.

“He was only in for about 15 minutes, his driver was waiting outside. Fans were pretty excited to see him and he signed a comic book. He was saying he hadn’t read any of the new ‘Star Wars’ comics.”

Lucas picked up three new Marvel “Star Wars” stories, which came out in January: one that follows Luke Skywalker, one about Darth Vader and one about Princess Leia. He also picked up a issue of the 1970s fantasy classic “Heavy Metal.”

Hmmm. LFL got burned big time when they flooded the market with Phantom Menace merch (IIRC Dorling Kindersley also took a massive hit because of it), so I hope Disney were paying attention. I don't care how successful TFA might end up being, there's only so much room on the market for so much related ephemera.
