I'm pretty sure Disney will release the "unaltered version"of the original trilogy on bluray(4k ?) and in theaters also.
Just think about the money they will make .
Can't wait for the SW celebration ,new ep.VII trailer ,new sw battlefield trailer ?!
Awesome.

Just a month or so before episode 7 is the perfect time to release it too.

Lucas replaced the wrong cheesy musical number in Jedi.
I never saw Jedi until the 97 SE so for me the new music was all I had ever known, when I saw the untouched versions years later I was caught completely off guard by the Yub-Neb song and to this day still prefer the SE music.

I wonder if Disney will ever make their own editions. I'm sure they wouldn't change any dialogue or character actions, but make some visual changes. I wouldn't mind that. Or they could release a set with the unaltered OT and their own edition

John Williams to Record Star Wars: The Force Awakens Score in Los Angeles

John Williams is currently hard at work composing the score for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which will be recorded in Los Angeles. For the recording of the score, Williams will work with members of the superb freelance orchestra with which he’s recorded numerous film scores over the years. The music will be recorded over several months while working in tandem with the film’s editorial and special effects teams on the West Coast.

While previous films in the saga were scored at Abbey Road with the celebrated London Symphony Orchestra, this will be the first time a Star Wars score has been recorded in the United States.

“I’ve had the privilege of working with the very best musicians in both the U.K. and the U.S.,” says Williams. “The London Symphony Orchestra has consistently performed with great artistry on all six of the prior films in the Star Wars saga, and I will be forever grateful for their commitment and dedication. Equally, it has been my honor to have worked with my brilliant colleagues in Los Angeles, and always appreciate the invaluable contribution they’ve made to my scores and to those of other composers.”

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is scheduled for release on December 18, 2015.

God bless John Williams. He will forever be the most iconic composer in the history of cinema. I can't wait for a new John Williams Star Wars score. I love film scores, but I never anticipate them the way I do a John Williams score.

Of all the complaints I've heard about the prequels (I have a few of my own) I've never heard anything regarding the excellent score. That got me as excited as anything when I saw the first preview.

He always gives 100%. The prequels have great scores. Episode III, especially, because it's the most dramatically rich film of the prequels. "Anakin vs. Obi-Wan," "Battle of the Heroes," "The Immolation Scene," and - my favorite - "A New Hope and End Credits."

And while the love story in Episode II is handled poorly, it at least gives us Williams' beautiful romance music to make up for it.

"Duel of the Fates" in Episode I is, of course, amazing, but everything by Williams is so good.

I'm even more exited about the soundtrack than I am about the movie itself.

The scores really are the very best part of the prequels. He came up with some pretty great suff, my favorite being the score during the Maul fight

IMO Williams hasn't been anything like his best for a quite a while (yes, I know he's getting on a bit!) but Star Wars always manages to summon something truly memorable out of him, even with Ben Burtt trying his very best to drown out the music with all of his ****ing sound effects. Thankfully, JJ kept Burtt on a very tight leash on the Star Trek movies and didn't let the effects overpower the score, so I'm hoping for the same again with TFA.

Yes. The score for the PT was incredible. So many memorable themes. The only thing I can never take away from that trilogy. Battle Of The Heroes in particular gets my blood pumping.

What about Anakin's Betrayal? The score during Order 66. Oh god, the music alone breaks my heart even before the film was released. And then to see the events unfolding on screen left me in tears.

I really don't think that whole chapter would have been effective without Williams' score. Truly, breathtaking and heartbreaking stuff.

Recording in Los Angeles could possibly due to his health concerns. The fact that he's still working already shows how dedicated he is to music. I hope he will have a very long life.

Every single motif in all 6 films is very high art. The Skywalker family theme is very sad but has that strange feelings of important destiny and triumph to come in the future, my favorite piece of them all. While the saddest one is when Anakin and Padme stare each other from afar before the most crucial decision of his life to be made. Powerful.

And Lincoln...I don't get my generation's lack of appreciation for recent Spileberg and Williams. They've said what they had to say about "popcorn entertainment" (Spielberg said they made gourmet popcorn), they have other things to say. Williams' score for The Book Thief is beautiful, War Horse is a directorial tour de force.
