Really? Let me take a crack at it. They're horribly acted aside from a few exceptions. The screenplays are filled with painfully bad dialogue and incoherent plots. The love story of Episode II is possibly the worst I've ever seen in a big budget movie(Anakin is essentially a stalker and Padme has no logical reason to fall for him other than it being required by the storyline). Most of the lightsaber duels are boring and feel like choreographed dance numbers than fight scenes. The CGI is excessive and occasionally very fake-looking. The pickup shots in the first two prequels are glaringly obvious(Ewan looks about 25 lbs heavier in The Phantom Menace!). Anakin's turn makes no sense whatsoever(he takes the word of a Sith Lord who's lied to everyone for 10 years and started an intergalactic war that's killed millions?). Jar Jar is one of the most annoying characters to ever appear in a feature film. The editing is amateurish, especially in the first two prequels(just listen to how hacked to pieces Williams' score is). And there are massive contradictions with the Holy Trilogy such as Leia remembering her birth mother in ROTJ and Palpatine's lightning scarring his face yet doing no visible damage to Luke.

Thank God Lucas has no input whatsoever in the new trilogy. He singlehandedly destroyed the prequels because his ego was too big for him to admit his writing and directing abilities disappeared back in the 70's.

Why do people keep repeating the same thing? We've heard all this before.

Why would the sith have that type of lightsaber? It's nonsensical.

The problem with the prequels is that they make no sense.

Because people keep asking what's wrong with them, it's not like we're going to lie and say they're good movies or something

I agree with all these points; poor casting, writing, and directing is what failed those movies. The second film is almost unwatchable to me once it gets to C3PO jumping around the factory, Then Yoda jumping around with a lightsaber. There are cool scenes in each of those movies, but overall they don't match up with the originals.

There is also the issue with the prequels that the narrative arc is redundant and goes out the window in RoTS where it becomes a lazy game of connect the dots to the original trilogy. Which brings us to the even bigger issue with the prequels: they don't build or add significantly their own voice/dialogue beyond what we already know from the original trilogy.

Palpatine lost to Mace the same way Obi Wan lost to Vader in EP 4.

There is a one major problem tho this is all your OPINION. You do realize there are just as many flaws in the holy sacred OT right? Plus there is no such thing as a perfect film.

Anywho, no matter what I will always enjoy the PT more than the OT. I just hope this new trilogy will hold up because I think the lack of input from Lucas will hurt it but I am keeping open mind

MakingStarWars.Net posted up a story synopsis. Still some things I'm not buying, but it was an interesting read. If true, OT fans should be very happy, because
[Show spoiler]it basically IS the OT in one movie...object plot from Star Wars, family drama from Empire, multi-thread battles from Jedi. It's the OT in a blender...if true.

The flaws in the OT dont matter because they are masterpieces as a whole. The flaws matter in the PT because they are turds as a whole.

I saw a video the other day of how one guy would have done the first three movies differently and he made a lot of sense , I can't remember everything he said but one thing sticks out . That the sith that got cut in half should have lived and came back with a machine bottom half and have been even harder to kill , that would have been better , I thought he was over too fast .

The villains in episodes I-III were really poorly executed.

Probably partially caused by some weird pretend game, where Lucas thought he could keep the fact that Palpatine = Sidious a secret for as long as possible - despite that fact that every SW fan knew who Palpatine really was from the very start. It's even the same effing actor who played Emperor Palpatine in Jedi.

As a result, the real villain of the PT doesn't really interact with any major characters of importance until the second/third act of Sith. By then it was too late.

I don't know who keep asking "what is wrong with the prequels" but this is why I'm so tired of the prequel discussion. I keep reading the same thing and I have to answer again and again. For instance, did Lucas really thought we didn't know that Palpatine was Sudious/Emperor? That he's trying to hide his identity from us the audience? No. It simply serves the story, he hides his identity from his enemy, not us.

Nope the flaws are in all 3 films in the OT. They all have their flaws so try again. It doesn't mean the OT is bad but its laughable how bad some Star Wars nerds overrate the OT. It's cliche good vs evil storytelling. Enjoyable but certainly has its flaws just like every film ever released in history.
