Now, back on topic, who else is looking forward to the upcoming Shattered Empire series (which as we know is going to be one of the series that leads up to Episode VII)?

I'm really hoping that it matches the quality of the current SW comics being done by Marvel, which in my humble opinion is some of the best SW stuff that's been done in decades.

I am enjoying the new Marvel Star Wars and Darth Vader series and the Princess Leia 5 issue miniseries. Have the Lando miniseries issues preordered and can't wait for Shattered Empire.

I'm enjoying the hell out of them as well. Definitely looking forward to the Lando series since he's one of my all time favorite SW characters.

I will say that as much as I'm looking forward to Shattered Empire (and I have full trust in the Lucasfilm story group at this point) I'm hoping they don't show Anakin's force ghost in the form of his younger Hayden version. And I'm also hoping they don't make it so that you have to read it to understand what's going on in the new trilogy (but I don't really think they will).

Aside from those concerns though, I anticipating it with much enthusiasm. Pretty much everything that's happened in the past year or so has taught me to love the franchise all over again (even though I still won't be fully satisfied until the UOT is properly released).

Personally I'm glad to have Han and Chewie back, I hope they manage to stick around for VIII and IX.

On the other hand I wonder if this will have any characters that will be as memorable as Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi Wan in the Prequel trilogy, Ewan McGregor made it worth watching the PT. Would have been fun to have more adventures with Qui-Gon as well.

Anybody have any guesses as to which NEW characters will make an impact?

Now, trying to get back on topic yet again, I too am hoping that we get a villain that sticks around for more than just ep. VII. I'm personally looking forward to Gwendolyne Christie's character since she's one of the best actresses on GoT right now. She might even raise the bar for villainous female characters.

That would be good. I hadn't ever really thought about it till you brought it up, but indeed no badguy lasted more than 1 movie in the PT, unless you count Palpatine. But that's kind of a stretch as he didn't flat out become a bad guy until the end of III.

I have a bad feeling about Han's survival in this, It's quite likely that he dies as killing off Han has apparently been on Ford's wishlist for a long time.

Palpatine/Sidious was the big bad, he was just in the shadows for 2 of the films.
But everything that happened was because of his manipulations.

The "one and dones" were just his minions.

No kidding, he's wanted it to happen since ROTJ. And the screenwriter for Ep. VII wanted it to happen way back then as well.
