So don't read it? It's discussion about Star Wars and how it relates to the new film, specifically the new film's PR spin that not so subtly tries to degrade the Prequels.

No it's really not. You want to do that, create a brand spankin new thread called "Let's talk about the Star Wars Universe. I just come here to read TFA news that is currently being buried by stupid OMG THE PREQUELS ARE BEING TALKED ABOUT NEGATIVELY or OT STAR WARS IS THE ONLY RAY OF SUNSHINE crap.

Please (and I am being polite here) take it elsewhere.

Honestly, every SW thread gets more more grabage than a dump. This thread is for the new movie. That is all.

My post concerns The Force Awakens so it's relevant.

I am looking forward to Episode 7.

With a large fanbase it will be impossible to cater to every individual persons' wants and hopes for a perfect Star Wars movie.

So here's my hope.

The budget spiraling out of control on Empire nearly cost him everything, thanks to Kurtz, so ever since then he's been more economical and in control of how the films are made. And honestly, aside from the shots where a clone is without his helmet on Utapau, the shots look fantastic. Yeah, they probably should have made a suit for a couple of those shots, but it's a nitpick and it's no worse than a plethora of effects shots in Episodes 4-6 that stick out like a sore thumb too.
In fact I'm talking of putting the same actor in different costumes, doing separate takes and splicing them toghether instead of using whole CGI models with the actor's head pasted on, they did it with
[Show spoiler]Sam Rockwell in Moon
, and it wasn't a money issue because Moon is a low budget movie.
And ILM itself invented the tech to do that (it's called "motion control"), with computers can be done seamlessly without black outlines or loss of details.
It's not the CGI per se, it's misusing it the main fault in the PT special effects, there are indeed points where fully CGI troopers were necessary but not all of them, Cody being alone talking to a Jedi doesn't need to be full CGI for crying out loud.

EDIT

Sorry, spoiler added.

That's a stretch to try to link it to VII. This is the same nonsense that happens in the Blu Ray Movies forum when people start going off for a hundred pages about things that have nothing to do with the disc. And then those of us looking for actual details about a release have to sift through pages and pages of drivel for any relevant info. it's why this forum has fallen off from what it once was...

Start your own thread for prequel vs originals bickering and keep this for VII news like it should be.

You aren't missing much. It's an OK low budget sci fi time waster. I suspect most of the people who call it great have never seen an episode of the Twilight Zone or the Outer Limits of any sci fi film before 1977.

Tell me more how Cheesy 70's TV is better than Moon

The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits are not "cheesy 70's TV" thus you prove my point.

Well that only stands to reason. Obviously the people see Moon differently than you can't possibly just see it differently than you. Their opinion of Moon can't simply be different, it has to be wrong.

Maybe it is crap, but in the middle of the brainless mediocre mass of pseudofuturistic sets and technobabble that Hollywood pushes as science fiction it shines like a masterwork.
I remember seeing Oblivion and thinking that they are very similar, only one is a shallow blockbuster with a shallow screenplay while the other at least tries to explore the implications of its sci-fi trappings and does it without needing another alien invasion.

What you say is true, except I didn't say it was crap. It was OK and I had seen similar stories many times over in various Twilight Zone episodes.

Anyway, Star Wars The Force Awakens. I hear it's coming out in December.
