@StarWars
How did C-3PO get his red arm? Find out in @Marvel #StarWars Special: C-3PO #1.
C-3PO will get a comic, and part of it will explain the red arm. This leads me to believe that the red arm won't be addressed in the film, as I figured. It's 30 years later - it's easy to assume something happened and it's most likely 99.9% unimportant to the events of The Force Awakens. If you have a friend you've known for decades, and he's had a prosthetic arm for a while, you're not going to one day say, "hey, remember when you lost your arm and got a new one?" It would most likely be clunky exposition to add in a line addressing the red arm for those in the audience who are wondering, "why is C-3PO's arm red now?"

Sure, it was probably done to sell new C-3PO toys (how else are you going to spruce up C-3PO and make him look different?), but it is 30 years later and we've seen him fall to pieces before. He's old, and this shows they've had adventures during those 30 years.

It's cool that they're putting out some background comics, though. Those should be interesting.

I think it's also because they redesigned the robo suit to be more wearable, the red arm distracts from all the eventual small differences.

There is a deluxe version listed on amazon uk, but no details on how it's different to the standard one yet.

Hmm, I may have to import. Although there's probably a chance that a deluxe version will be available later for the US.

Have fun with that. I quit the habit years ago, and been clean and legal ever since. I like having good, high bitrate music straight from the CD.

You're cute. As if lossless torrents don't exist.

But I digress...

I'll buy the best of whatever I want.

Ah, I wasn't thinking of that, sorry.

Still, aren't torrents...like...illegal or something?

EDIT:
Oh snap, I didn't realize there were legal torrents around. May have to look into them.

If the arm was silver, maybe, but red is just too ostentatious. C3PO having a red left arm and the new TIE Fighters having red markings on the left side and the two not being connected somehow would seem odd.

Seeing all the pictures of merchandise I found myself praying silently: Please, don't suck. Please, don't suck. For the love for all that's holy and unholy don't suck.

Im getting a heavy epI deja vu, but maybe it's the lack of sleep.

I think it's a lack of sleep, from what I have seen of VII, it looks like it's going to be fun return to the franchise. Especially after the wooden performances and stilted dialogue from the prequels.

I know what you mean, there's something in the back of your mind that's saying "we've been through this once already in 1999" but I'm getting a good feeling about this. The avalanche of merch has been triggered but that was entirely to be expected with the might of Disney AND Lucasfilm combining to sell us everything imaginable with the Star Wars name on it, and while the film won't be the best thing ever I'm fully expecting it to be a fast-paced action romp like most of JJ's films are.

If Star Trek '09 had the name changed to Star Wars and had the score replaced with stuff by John Williams I think most people would've been ecstatic with that after the stuffy, stilted prequels, and if Ep VII delivers more of the same then we're in for some fun. I also think it's a good sign that the teaser and trailer were scored with new music by Williams, all Lucas did on the prequel trailers was use OT cues time after time which kinda made them seem way cooler and more Star Warsy than they ultimately turned out to be. That Revenge of the Sith trailer still gives me da goosebumps.
