I hate, loathe and despise the two Abrams Star Trek films with a fiery passion and I like the prequels and the current versions of the Original Star Wars trilogy even less but for some reason I am optimistic about The Force Awakens. Perhaps I am just a masochist?

But regarding the poster, did any place shove out the existence of the Mk3 Death Star? The poster is the first i have heard of it! Seriously, the finale action sequence they could pull off as they dive into the crust of a friggin' planet to blow it up is mind-blowing!

I will take film over digital anyday i just hope the other two will be shot the same way

So... has Disney thought about releasing the other 5 movies in 3D back to theaters?

I like that more than the upright version, gives it a bit more room to breathe and makes that triangular composition stand out a lot more (probably not a coincidence seeing as this is the start of the third SW trilogy). It's not got the same charm as a Struzan/Amsel-style effort but those days are long gone so I can't blame it for that. Me likey.

So the Eye of Sauron is the big bad in The Force Awakens? ... neat.

Very nice poster!

The Star Wars films (ignoring the digital wringer that the prequels were scraped through) tend to be relatively 'stylistically inert' in that they don't have any singular hallmarks of style outside of a classic 2.35 wide framing. When the first trailer hit and featured camera shake on the Stromtrooper scene and a smash-zoom on the shot of the TIE Fighters following the Falcon i had doubts about Abrams. But i recalled that similar elements were found in Lucas' films. I'm expecting this film to dodge the digital paintbox and simply look fantastic, as there is no point filming on film to then overlay a bunch of stylised enhancement unless you simply want to shoot fast.

I did. But the enquiry was "3D". I know there's a marathon, but did they decided to do the other movies in 3D, or dropped it after TPM?

Hell, I'm pissed there's a Death Star to begin with.

My previously unchecked anticipation has been humbled.
This time, the planet shoots first.

All three prequels were post-converted to 3D, only The Phantom Menace received wide release.

So does this poster confirm that
[Show spoiler]Luke indeed doesn't appear in the movie until the last 10-15 minutes?!?

The poster's pretty cool, but I was really hoping for a full Struzan piece. Also, the idea of a third Death Star is just stupid; Lucas retreading it with "Return of the Jedi" was already a little too much. Are we really supposed to believe that no one in the Empire has become any smarter over the last thirty years?!

Also, why did they leave Luke off the poster? He's the main Jedi, for cryin' out loud. I know they want to showcase the new characters, but c'mon...leaving Luke out is sacrilegious. Overall, it reminds me more of the DVD artwork from 2004.

[Show spoiler]Why would they not promote him on the theatrical poster? Unless there's another one coming closer to release.
