Don't see what all the fuss is about a teaser poster.

The ACTUAL poster is being released tomorrow evening.

Tickets booked up for Empire Leicester Square. In London for the week before Christmas and I've always really wanted to show my partner how amazing Empire One is. Timing works out perfectly

Granted, the main auditorium is not as great as it used to be, but will be phenomenal to see in IMAX. £20 a ticket though. Ooph!

Tickets don't go on sale here for another 12 hours, but they're for the 17th, aw yeah. Midnight IMAX screening for me.

I was, and am, sad that the beautiful art-deco cinema was broken into smaller units. But that aside, they've done a pretty good job. The standards of projection are good, the seats are comfortable, and the place still has some atmosphere. They offer the only Atmos-equipped theatre in Central London too (they call it their IMPACT screen) and I actually prefer their IMAX screen to the BFI one now: The auditorium is not as big but, as a result, the screen is all the more immersive.

Despite its new "laser" projection system - which makes no discernible difference that I can see - the image at the BFI IMAX always seems a little soft and dim to me and the supposedly impressive illustration of their sound system has always underwhelmed me. In contrast (no pun intended), the Empire IMAX image is sharp and bright - even conversions look better here - and the sound is far more powerful, with much deeper bass. And the tickets are a couple of quid cheaper too.

I see that the BFI IMAX booking system crashed this morning for Star Wars; but the Empire was my first choice and there were no glitches there.

Knew tickets went on sale at 8am but checked at 7:50 and they were already live, booked into my local Vue for midnight on their biggest screen dead centre of the VIP seating

Tickets went on sale at 7am art vue cinemas, booked mine for Odeon Imax 3D though, took 2 hours to finally get through to the checkout, kept giving me error messages.

Midnight was fully booked and with work 9pm was the next showing I could get to. Can't wait to see it. Can't believe it's been 3 years since the Disney deal and this movie finally coming out, seems like yesterday it was announced!

It's no wonder you can't see any difference at the BFI IMAX because it hasn't had the laser install yet (why do people keep thinking it has?), there are only a few IMAX venues around the world which have been upgraded so far. As luck would have it, one of those IS the Empire IMAX so I think you have your answer as to why it looks better than the BFI duggie (scroll down for the list): https://www.imax.com/about/laser/

I wish we had any kind of real imax in Wales, I know the Odeon one in Cardiff bay is a liemax screen, but at least it's bigger than the regular cinema screens in the local cineworlds.

I'm going to see what Showcase Xplus is like when Spectre comes out, if anything is Dolby atmos set up should be spectacular for the ears even if the screen is underwhelming.

Oh - you're absolutely right. Not sure why I thought the BFI Imax had laser. projection. I was sure I'd read that it did but perhaps I got confused with the Empire site. Thanks for that and apologies if I've mislead anyone.

Anyway - that only confirms for me that the Empire is the place to go for all IMAX films,as of now. I do, though, also suspect that the BFI IMAX isn't changing its projection bulb frequently enough. It badly needs an overhaul, imo,as both EVEREST and THE WALK looked pretty murky to my eyes; and it'd be great if IMAX would develop its own Atmos system. It's ridiculous that corporate in-fighting means we can't see films with both technologies, as the two combined would really encourage people to go to the cinema more often.

I agree about the BFI, it's not got as much punch as one would expect with non-15/70 stuff, though when you consider you're basically seeing a 2K digital projector throwing an image onto one of the biggest screens in the UK then that kinda puts it into perspective.

I'll keep that in mind about the Empire though, if Star Wars doesn't get any 15/70 engagements then I might give the Empire and its lasers a whirl.

Got mine booked this morning for The Vue in Leeds. Shame I have to work on the Thursday morning so got 4.45pm showing. Took me a few attempts to book them with the site being really slow but I got dead centre seats.
